Thanks to all that turned up
We got off to a slow start with Merv’s sparkplug deciding it wasn’t coming out to play today
We then met the others at Palmdale and off the 9 of us went. We did a mix of open trails and some rutted rocky hills to warm up for those that were keen with an easy option for those who weren’t keen and then a tight single to warm everyone up.
We thought Rebore had decided to end it all when he jumped off a cliff  however he assured us it was an accident and rejoined us on the trail  We carried on through some flowing overgrown twin track and then upto a transmission tower for the view and a break.
We carried on with some twin track and had a slow moment with a lady and her petrified horse where we had to turnoff the bikes as she was dragged down the track (my bad  ). We did a flowing loop which brought us back to her again for some more quiet time
Sam then led the way down a steepish hill where Bull 400 lost his front end but worse still where he broke his thermos
no more coffee for him or us
Seb then wanted to follow him as he said he smelt great
We then headed further into the forest on the open trail to a couple more singles where those that were getting tired took the easy option and those still keen took the singles :woohoo: Sorry about the call that the hard bit was over I forgot about that last rock
Any way Merv and Bull 400 took the main trail back to the carpark whilst the rest of us took the back way through Marcel’s special single into his place then back to the carpark.
Thanks again to Rebore450, Merv, Seb, Boulder, Bull 400, Marcel and Paul for coming along and Sam for sweeping (he’s usually leading with us eating his dust  )
See you in 2 weeks at the Birthday ride :woohoo: can’t wait
Adam.
May 14, 2011 at 10:17 pm #201232Good report Adam. Might want to mention the “thermos” in the bumbag thread.
Need some photos though.
May 15, 2011 at 1:06 pm #201233What can i say! It was a great ride!:cheer:
Adam has basically covered the guts of the ride so i don’t have a lot to add.
The trails were good with a mix of fire trail, singles and some hills to keep us on our toes.
It was good to catch up with the other Old Bulls and as usual a good group of guys to ride with.
I thought that Bull 400 thermos was a fair idea when i first saw it but i didn’t think it was obust enough for an off.
It appears that this is the case. so i made a mental note not to carry one based on my need to sometimes throw myself on the ground.
I would like to refute the whole falling off a cliff incident. As i explained at the time i thought that i had viewed the rare spotted quall and needed a closer look.
Being the conservationist that i am the need to roll down a few meters of rock strewn cliff, clearing small flora as i went was not going to stop me.  :pinch:
The story that i stopped and put my left foot down into mid air and then fell off my bike and down the cliff are totally unfounded and i will deny everything that Marcel and Sam saw.Great day, good tracks, good company, it doesn’t get better than that.
Thanks, Adam for leading, Sam for sweeping and all the other riders for the company and the laughs.
Rebore.

In Merv’s haste to get his bike diagnosed and going he forgot to put his camera on  so sorry no photos
Bull 400’s thermos has some merrit, every one looked at him enviously when he poured his coffee on a break  however he needs to upgrade to a stainless steel flask as the glass liner doesn’t quite have the impact resistance required for an Old Bulls ride
He also needs to carry eight extra cups for his riding buddies  oh and a few cookies and cake would be nice too

May 15, 2011 at 5:53 pm #201307Hey Bull, glad you enjoyed your first OBT hit out.
Just a little pointer though, I noticed that you post all your replies in UPPERCASE. In the world of internet forums that means you are shouting or pissed off. :S Any chance you might turn your caps lock off, as it makes it a bit hard to read as well?
Cheers

May 15, 2011 at 9:52 pm #201235Well another great OB ride and as always in good company. It was nice to have some new OB’s along and Adam and Sam did a great job keeping us all in one piece and moving along nicely on some great trails.
The weather was perfect, thanks to all the guys that came and made it such a great day
Thanks also to Marcel for allowing us to ride back through his back yard.
Look forward to the next one!! Boulder. -
