Well I have decided its too hard a days work taking the kids riding
Here is my day Up at 6.30 and home at 6 pm unloaded etc by 7pm. So I dragged everyone out of bed at 6.30, I yelled and threatened until we drove out on time at 7.25am, first time ever
I had Lefty’s kids bikes as Lefty is away working on ARC rally cars (and doing alright, looks like they will get a second in the australian series after having a two minute lead them breaking a drive shaft)
Anyway around to Lefty’s so his bride can follow, away we go. Chris72a and family are to mee us there. So once you arrive there its all go, get the car unloaded, setup the quick shades, unload bikes, fuel bikes, fuel kids, dress kids, start bikes, teach kid to use a clutch, teach same kid to change gears, unpack chairs, start stalled bike, adjust a chain, setup BBQ, find gas hose missing from BBQ kit, drive 22 kms to hardware store get a hose, return, walk out and fuel a bike that stopped, prepare sausages, heat BBQ, turn off BBQ, go and pick up crashed kid, get crashed kid going, help Chris unload, help Chris try and start the quad, quad still wont start, find plug spanner remove plug tell chris its dry not getting fuel, go and fuel small kids bike, start kids bike, run over and pick up crashed kid, get crashed kid going after explaining thats bike riding deal with it, find gas low, light BBQ, note the BBQ is slow because of low gas, pump up flat tyre, spend more time with kid that WON’T CHANGE GEARS  and has grenaded two engines before, threaten kid about not changing gears, kid tells mum, get the evil eye from mum  , cook BBQ, go and take some photos and video, pack up quick shade, pack up all the chairs that no one sat on, clean BBQ and pack up, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, pack up the tools, pack up the table, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, drain the water from the esky, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, help Chris load his bikes, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, pack up the air compressor, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, pack up the esky, chase kids and tell them to finish riding, have a brain snap, help kids from there bikes and load them, pack up esky again (bloody kids), yell at kids to get changed, yell, scream, finally load gear bags, pack up esky again (bloody kids) again and again, sort which kid goes in whos car, another brain snap, get kids in the car, leave, travel, stop for ice creams, get home, drop Lefty’s kids bikes off, get home, kids need to go to the toilet both kids, unpack on my own, make kids put bikes away, finish putting bike away on my own, un hook trailer, clean car, come inside, cook my own dinner

Not a MX track like at Hastings Unit. The 85cc track only has two jumps in it, as you can understand marshaling a MX track while kids rode would be a night mare. They keep it fairly simple, there is enough for all the kids to do. Only full blown race kids would be bored, that said the internal track within one of the big tracks is used by the bike mags for testing, it doesn’t have any jumps but is a wicked technical fast bumpy test track

September 10, 2011 at 11:58 am #208485Would like to check out any video clips, TB
Our work will not allow us to open any youtube clips. :pinch:
Can view the pics alright though.
Even though family days are a lot of work, they are still worth every bit of it.
We used to do the family bike outing up at Wachoppy, on my Dads farm. They were great times. :woohoo:
Can also view vids on photobucket, I guess work hasn’t found that out yet.
Cheers
MurphSeptember 10, 2011 at 11:59 am #208473Been there done that mate! Every second Sunday on a corner with a yellow flag. Then when the buggers grow up and come out riding with you, they use you for traction on the hills!! No gratitude or respect shown, that’s when you know you taught them well.
September 10, 2011 at 1:01 pm #208487Classic stuff TB. Laughed the whole way through the report. Looks like it isnt just my kids that dont help pack/unpack and want one more lap before darkness/rain sets in.
Love taking the kids out riding even went you dont get a ride yourself. Happy to cook the BBQ and take pics as well.
Funny/frustrating teaching the kids to learn the clutch and gear change. Poor little bike revving in whatever gear it is in. We didnt have one loop out over three kids learning on that bike.
Glad Kieran is enjoying his new JR80. Soon he will be riding in the hills with the big boys.
Great report mate.September 10, 2011 at 5:42 pm #208488Funny Report TB.
How many times did you open the esky again.
Still it will all worthwhile one day when they round you up on there 50kg electric dirt bikes.
September 10, 2011 at 6:56 pm #208474Got to be a supper dad!!! Kids have fun:cheer: ,,you do the prep work:angry: ,,in a time honoured tradition. You deserve the odd brain snap. It’s a dad thing
September 10, 2011 at 7:09 pm #208475Hey TB… thanks for making me laugh……… so have you counted how many brownie points you got after doing all that… ………. I know you had to earn a few but I think the brownie bank is full again. :woohoo:

Thanks for taking the boys out mate.
I owe you one.
Cheers,
LeftyPS; BTW we did finish second in the ARC Rally at Coffs Harbour. We were leading by 1min 30sec when two stages from the end we broke a $2 bolt holding one of the drive shaft flanges into the gearbox. We lost drive and finished the rally in second position 1min behind. Oh well shit sometimes happens…….
