I will explain when I see you it ups the octane and helps keep your fuel fresh I use one in the 525 and fill up with low 92 and get no ping also have mates in the central coast who use it in their XR6 XR400 there only $40 and dont wear out like i said ill lend you one to try the product is called Fitch

I wouldn’t waste your money on those products, they don’t do anything. I looked up Fitch as I haven’t heard of them before (there are plenty others like them) and read their claims.

Improves fuel economy, improves combustion, reduces emmissions, helps your engine and lasts longer than the life of your car. WOW!! It’s amazing that the fuel companies, power stations, refineries, chemical plants, top end motorsport and whatever else don’t use this product.

With the current pressure everywhere on reducing your ‘carbon footprint’ and improving efficiency and peformance with new based fuels (LPG, Biofuel) it’s amazing they missed this awesome technology. Maybe we should should tell BP and Shell that if they just put a heap of these ‘fuel catalysts’ into the primary cracking stream where the petrol is produced they can make a much better fuel.

Sorry for the sarcastic response, but these ‘gimmicks’ have been around for ages and don’t do anything. Also, XR400’s and XR6’s are designed to use the low grade pump fuel (as sold in Australia) so if they pinged before your ‘fuel catalyst’ was put in then there was already some problem.

Yeah sorry I am with Moto, everything he said except the bit about the high performance XR’s lol, its a sales pitch to people.

They make one for diesel engines, its going to increase fuel economy, its going to reduce engine wear. I asked the sales man that pitched it to me, that the major trucking companies that have a fuel bill of a million dollars a day in the US could fit one and save .002KPL of fuel that would save them millions a year, why don’t they have them and he couldnt / wouldn’t answer, because it bull, we have tested them and see the same fuel burn per hr and same hp

    Sorry

If it stops the pinging I will give it a go as I have pretty well exhausted all avenues.
Someone else suggested octane booster as in that valve saver stuff that you squirt into your petrol.I already use premium so what are your thoughts on that?
Because the ping is in the third quarter of the rev range under load, going on TB’s jetting chart he posted the mixture screw would have little effect.Have i got that right.
THe mikuni has an air screw not a fuel screw.

Mick, they don’t do a thing. If it stopped the ping it’s probably more likely to be beacuse it’s flaoting around in your fuel tank and blocking fuel flow :P

Octane booster will help, although that’s an expensive way to go, mixing that up for every tank fuel of fuel. It would be like having a 4 stroke 2 smoker needing to add oil every so often. You need to sort the problem out and fix the root cause IMO otherwise when you are on a ride in bumf**k (like next weekend) you won’t be able to get 98RON fuel anyway and will have to use 95RON which will bring the problem back.

That said, if your bike pings bad, bringing some Octane Booster might not be a bad idea for next weekend. The problem is that is thicker than petrol and can gum up the jets in your carby (just like the old Shell Optimax with the fuel additives).

It has to be some sort of fuelling issue, maybe you should take it to a reputable delaer and see if they can sort it. It would be a better use of your ‘hard earned’ that one of those stuped plastic blocks, you could tip your winky into the tank and get better results :P

    Sorry

Tb what dyno did you use and what brand gas bench to get this result

This is the oldest debate on any motor powered forum so I won’t get into it anymore as I’ve seen how it goes.

In my opinion though I’d advise anyone not to waste their money on these products. Any of you who know me also know that I work in the petrochemical indusrty for a combustion company.

Bull I work for one of the largest manufacture of Diesel engines in the world, I am in service engineering and training, we have around a dozen chassis dynos in Australia and more engine dynos throughout the country. We do testing all the time, its an on going process as we work to maintain market share of course, we work long and hard with our customers to give them any advantage they can in there business that way we maintain a healthy partnership.

I am not getting into this here, but as I stated previous Bull, with fuel costs being over 35% of the running cost of a average B double and a single B doubles fuel cost for a month being over $18,000 per month I leave you with this.

If they (the truck owners) could fit a magic tablet in their fuel tank and improve that by 0.02 % the savings are huge you would agree, we dont see it in the industry, we see very little of them used at all.

I am not getting into it anymore, if you are getting results and paid to do it good stuff

No offence Bull please understand its an open forum, your helping Mick is a good thing and if Mick takes it and uses it and it works, we will look red faced, it wont change my opinion of it but maybe red faced lol

Moto, I have had a few of these in my machines and I can tell you they do have an effect, the where and why is debatable but the results on the twist of the throttle is all I care about, and with the fun tablet in the fuel i get between 10-25 kms per tank more fun, and thats a fact, with Betty’s state of tune I was really effected by different fuels, and with the thing in the tank i dont give a f#ck what ron fuel i throw in her, i was like you before i actually tried it and all i can say is dont knock it until you have at least tried it, by your own admission you did not even know the brand of the thing, and there is a classic saying….
Condemnation with out investigation is the height of arrogance…look into it and then blow away the sellers of snake oils….
please dont get me wrong, i am not saying you are arrogant, just keep your intelligence open, Bill talked to me about these things for months before I would even try one, and I eventually tried it and could not believe the difference, i now have one in every tank in every bike and in every jerry can, i will not run shit fuel you buy at the pump with out it , the only fuels i have not noticed any difference in with the catalysts is the special blends i get occasionally from my drag race mates…look into it…bill will more than likely throw one at you to try it out

That fuel saving is incredible Dave, one could say to good to be true, one could say.

Heres another source of extra performance you may wish to try
