The 690 has Pirelli MT21`s front & rear that were just put on new when I picked it up.
I have been riding it to work daily the past week & finding that the front likes to run straight ahead like on a Traintrack at pressures below say 18 psi, but also feel similar above 26 psi ,,,Anone else run these tyres on here ???
If so, I am interested in your thoughts and experiences with them.A few guys at the Birthday ride commented on the steering being tight (possible bearing tightness), but it is nice & free when on a stand, and I found the trye to be the culprit
Any thoughts????
July 6, 2011 at 9:00 pm #204490Beags I have tried them twice with different pressures and reckon the fronts are rubbish. They dont grip, wear too fast and heal and toe IMO, I did try different pressures because the first one heal and toed so fast. The rear gripped ok, but lasted only 2900kms of nearly all dirt !! They are more expensive than the Dunlop 606’s which are a heap better tyre IMO.
After all the tyres I have tried on the Tenere my fav for fast committed dirt work on a big loaded bike is Dunlop 907 front, and Mitas E09 rear. I havent run a Mitas E09 front yet, reckon you should try a set of them Eags, E09’s front and rear. Steve probably has them in stock, they will be a tad dearer but they do the miles (well I know the rears do) and the front looks as though it wont heal and toe. The 907 wont handle a lot of black top so dont try one of those for to and from work
E09’s

July 6, 2011 at 9:17 pm #204491Yeah, I think I looked at those a while back just before I got the bike.
Are you talking the E09 Adventure or Dakar ?? They don`t look too much different except for the $$$ (compounds are different obviously)I will run the Pirelli`s out then give Steve a call , will chat to you about them Sat mate
July 10, 2011 at 12:24 am #204492I found the front to be very loose on the gravel today (18 psi front & rear all day)
Spoke to DeanO when back at the Pines & he was running 15 in his on a KTM 520 & reckons they were ok,,,,Will definately try something else next, can always go back to them again if unhappy with others I suppose
July 10, 2011 at 12:33 am #204493Hey Eags… I ran 14 psi for the ride and all was sweet.. For the highway run up to Freemans I ran 20 psi.. I lowered them at the servo when I arrived.. Not running the Pirelli’s though.. Maybe give them another run through the wattos at lower psi and see if helps..
July 10, 2011 at 12:39 am #204645If you run 15 or 18 even 22 or for that matter even 24 a MT21 will heal and toe like a mother &(&;@:

July 10, 2011 at 12:41 am #204494yes I will,, ran them thru there a fortnight ago on 16 but thought they were a tad too low when hitting ruts etc
I find the rear is good, just not a fan of the front at all now :whistle:I couldn`t be botered playing with pressures on them today , too busy having fun
Cheers

July 10, 2011 at 12:23 pm #204495Hi Eags,
I have purchased a set of E09D’s (not fitted yet) for my trip to the Corner in October. I have heard good reports on the rear however, not heard much regarding the front. If anyone out there has any feed back on the front, it would be appreciated.
