    Hi all,
Rebuilding my 07 YZ450 with new crank, mains, timing chain kit, valve seals & piston kit. Can a Wossner hi comp piston be used with premium pump fuel? Is it beneficial over std comp?
    Cheers Brad

That will cost a pretty penny. I would have thought most of us are using 95 octane at least now days. I’m not an authority on this however if it were me I would know by now how my yz ran on 91 or poorer fuel quality – detonation wise. Then I’d take a look at how much higher in compression the wossner is from OEM, base my decision on that. In my opinion (and you probably don’t want it) a 450 has enough power and bottom end to stick with OEM now days…..

Yeah, 1k is the damage. I do run premium as I said. Question was does a hc piston require a race fuel or is premium ok? Want to put a forged piston in anyways.

Depending on how much higher you’re going with the compression. But typically as long as you’re not throwing the highest compression piston you can find in it. 98 pump fuel is as safe as anything.
