We all struggled just that some of us are smart enough to video the others and avoid getting videoed ourselves

I tried to redeem myself at the end once I saw the camera, with that little wheelie.

Ooooookey i finally got round to fitting a new chain and sprokets, and clutch/ mirror perch, i was waiting for all these to turn up and fitted before i would fit the Pegz.

however i run into a problem, see i was somehow dreaming they had washers and “o”rings
for the peg pins, but after some PM’s to a patient Admin team member ;)

he first asked me what i was smoking :P

then assured me that there was no such thing with the Pivot Pegz

but yet it gets more interesting, i went to fit up the left Peg, and i run into another snag :(

the left peg is the opposite to the right peg. anyway after a phone call and some emails to the Good Folks at Battye’s B) they suggested i talk to Pivot direct.

and an email and call ( well voice mail, they must be a busy shop, which is a good thing) to Pivot Pegz HQ. i got the following email.

    “Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your email.

Some LC4 models have two different footpeg mounting designs on the one frame
(the left side is a male design and the right side is a female design) and
this means that it is necessary to purchase the left side footpeg bracket
off a later model LC4 and bolt it onto your LC4 which will mean you will end
up with two female footpeg mounting designs and our Pivot Pegz (part #
PP-19MK2) for the later 2005 onwards model LC4’s will then fit your bike.

The bracket you need to upgrade to is KTM part # 58403038100 FOOTREST
BRACKET LEFT ALU 05. The bracket is a genuine KTM aluminum footpeg bracket
from a 2005 640 Adventure and can be purchase via you local KTM dealer and
will fit your bike exactly. You will also need to purchase the bracket
mounting bolts and a left hand footpeg pin at the same time because the old
mounting bolts and footpeg pin are too short. Once you have fitted the new
bracket your bike will now have the same footpeg mounting design as the
2005-2009 LC4 and Pivot Pegz part # PP-19MK2 will fit perfectly.

I hope this information is useful to you.

    Thanks again for your email.

    Kind Regards,

    Catherine “

so maybe the next Bulk buy deal could include a note for pre 05 LC4 owners the will need to update their left hand mounting bracket bolts and peg pin.

i will suggest to the nice people at pivot they include a note on their fitment chart about the need to update the l/h peg mount.

as finding out after you have the Pegz and try  to fit them you are up for an unexpected $125 for mount + whatever the bolts and pin are.

Hey Drew that sux huge amounts and maybe pivot pegz could put something on their fitment chart but shouldn’t KTM get their foot pegz the same

What are you doing about it now?

    :P

yeah TB they changed the mounts in 05 by the looks of it to the same as what LC’s 625 SXC has, and all LC4’s since 05 have the same mounts through to the current 690’s.

i will order the alloy mount and fittings when the fun tickets are replenished

until then i’ll just have to ride with only the right one fitted :silly:

oh and i only posted this up as a point of interest, not saying i’ve been short changed or anything. or that i was sold something under false pretences or the like.

just something to keep in mind ;) B)

Betchya the same bloke who designed the original PDS did your footpeg mounts.

    Backwards bloody Eurotrash engineers.

Can you make one if it is a female mount you need? (I know technically it is an ADR issue but)

That seems ridiculous that the footpeg mounts would be different from one side of the bike to another. Not only is it harder to get parts for but it must have been harder/more effort to make as well.

yeah i don’t know yet, Boltons online price was for the mount only  :( so i’d estimate about $70- 120 for bolts and pin through Boltons. however i’ll be calling suttos ;)

as for making my own mount, i thought it would be easier to buy a genuine one and COcopyUGH it for when it fails,

LC told us on the Snow ride he had broken his left side one and showed us how much it flexes just by pushing on it with your foot while standing beside the bike

Okay i’ve just got off the phone with Allan ( very nice bloke B) ) the boss man at Pivot Pegz, he called me and spent about 1/2 an hour of his lunch break clearing up a few confusing issues.-> my end not really his end

they will take on board my suggestion of a foot note on their fitment chart! :woohoo: they will include a Foot/ side note that the pre 2002 build dated lc4 bikes can be fitted with pivot pegz with the addition of the alloy bracket from the 05 build bikes and will include the ktm part number they emailed me with. B)

Now here is how come i have had a mix up of sorts,

i bought my December 2001 build 640, which was sold as a 2002 model.

Pivot’s original chart stated their pegz fitted 2004 -2009= going by the year it was built not marketed as.

they have always based the years on their fitment chart going by the year of build stamped on the bike not what it is marketed as, ( as we know you can buy a 2010 model bike now but it is built in 09  )

they have had previous customers buy the pegz and fitted them to an 03 and 02 lc4’s without any need to buy the afore mentioned “updated” mount bracket.

therefore Pivot had updated their chat to include the 2002 BUILT/Build date lc4 bikes.

Allan deduced that the 2001 Build bike were most likely on the cusp of the change to Female mount brackets on both sides of the frame.

so now you know as much as i do  😆 :P :cheer:

I have to say that Allen at Pivot Pegz is one of the most helpful people in any line of business I have ever dealt with
