Got my new pegz on Friday. Fitted that night. Went out for a couple of hours this morning. 2nd & 3rd gear stuff, mainly singleline, up on the pegz most the time. They feel great! That subtle tilting forwards and backwards reduces the requirement to lift and adjust your feet as much as you are used to. So, then your legs and calves don’t work as hard – less fatigue. I reckon they’d be great on those long hard days on enduros or just normal distance trailriding.
Thanks TB and Pivot pegz (great deal, great product)
PS. how long will I be able to keep that highly polished finish on my pegz!
CrashJanuary 18, 2009 at 12:14 am #118630Yeah good job Crash, also nice shot of the bling, new pivot pegz, the PWR radiators, the works connection frame guards and the FMF exhaust system.
Now the report, yeah I agree they help standing and really give a feel of more stability and control.
Looking forward to hearing from the others that took advantage of the low purchase price, hey what about the build quality of the pegz? Looking forward to some more deals in the futureTB

January 18, 2009 at 10:21 pm #118647Well I promised more of a review on the Pivot pegs so here’s me initial impressions:
For the first 200m it feels like something is just wrong on the bike, but after that, and especially if you ignore them, these things really are pretty good. I wouldn’t call the pivot action subtle on my bike though, it is quite noticable – and hard to ignore!
A few comments before I go on:
1. Adjust the rear brake pedal lower or you’ll be wishing you did so before.
2. With the WR I found some nice new marks on the kickstarter – I can only assume these are a result of the pegs hitting when kickstarting – something I did far too much of on Saturday! Not serious but worth mentioning.
3. Fitting is MUCH easier with help! Getting the hole lined up against the pressure of the spring then somehow getting the pin into the hole is tricky. 10 minute job max with a mate though.Ok, back to riding the bike with the pegs. When alternating between standing and sitting they are quite good and give you easier access to the brake and gear shifter, and when I was in the zone and it all worked they were great. The reason this worked for me is that this kind of riding usually sees me with my feet in only one position. I often ride with my toe or heel on the peg, depending on where I am and what I am doing. With the pivoting action this becomes redundant and problematic. So, the problem is really with me, not the pegs. This being the case, I often found myself locking the rear (due to not following point number 1 above!) or riding duck-footed – or both. I think the problem for me comes from my previous habit of moving around on the pegs a lot. It is a habit I will find hard to break I think.
I’m going to give them another go on the Zig Zag to Hill End OBT ride after which it will be crunch time. If I don’t like them they will be packed back in the box and most likely sold to a more deserving owner!

AnonymousI think I may be the same as you ECKS, I will find out when I get my bike and get riding.
January 18, 2009 at 10:30 pm #118686Yeah Moto, I’m not slagging the pegs as I know that this is a long formed habit of mine. If I can change my riding style enough it won’t be a problem. I suspect that I may have picked a bad ride to start using them, considering it was 5 hours of the toughest riding I’ve ever done, followed by another hour or so… Start small might have been a better idea!

AnonymousI’ve seen the Pegz and had a stand on them on TB’s bike. They certainly look top notch and are a quality unit. I think the only issue anyone could have with them is that they personally don’t get on with them.
You need to write honest reports abouth these things and it’s good to know things like rear brake position may need modifying. I’ll give them a whirl, form my opinion and put my thoughts up when I’ve had a ride
January 18, 2009 at 11:00 pm #118692It is the only way we want reviews here that’s for sure. I liked reading your thoughts ECKS, I spoke with Crash last nite regarding his and he hasn’t had to adjust anything, I think you get the most benefit from them when you stand for sure. I used to move my feet to the ball of my foot, but have since dropped it since I got the pivot pegz, its a bad habit anyway as if you need the brake in a emergency its takes time to get it moved, same as fingers over the brake lever. I haven’t adjusted anything when I started riding mine.

January 19, 2009 at 7:25 pm #118701January 19, 2009 at 10:34 pm #118809Fitted mine yesterday, piece of cake to fit, terrific finish and build quality, very aggressive toothing, better than my other aftermarket pegs I’ve had, similar to the lightweight BMX competition pedals on some topline junior bikes…and Ecks shoulda used a stubby standard sized flatblade screwdriver on the bottom side of frame mount to align and to lever against inside the pin hole, then again have chainged a few pegs in my day so we take these tricks for granted sometimes.
Use
in a quick 20 minute repeat loop of my yard, I am going to declare …..provisionally
excellent as being an old MXer I cover my brake with my toes anyway, as someone said though move brake lever down or lockups are inevitable, gearshifts with my (after sundays efforts) mangled lever where much better, no slide of toes, just twist sideways twist striaght click up and…within three gear changes I was sold. Now the main reason i wanted some was to help get my weight forward of really steep climbs, stuff that is 65 degree incline+, I am going to try them on this on the coming weekend and will report back to all on my experiences.
also see as was pointed out to me (by ridefit and gymfit 20something yr olds too) on the weekend and after revisiting some docile thumpers (from ttr350s, Wr450s, drz, te450) that my YZ is a very brutal bike power delivery wise and for some people very hard to stay in control, these pegs will definitely help there as sometimes my old body does get a bit rag dolled on the bike as I fatigue and make mistakes.will go for a decent ride this weekend and give opinion
Bluebloke…actually atm black & blue

AnonymousIt’s nice to see the general concensus is good
January 20, 2009 at 10:45 am #118860Took the XR for a ride to test the new pegs this arvo. At first like most people have said, they felt a little wacky. The brake wasn’t an issue but I think I might raise my gear shift up one.
I did about 10km around Mooses flat track and by then I was used to them and all is good.
I went and did a few jumps over a mound of dirt, they still dont stop the XR from nose diving…..LOL
Pretty happy so far but am a bit scared of the one next to the kickstarter,I can see it taking a chunk outa me someday.:dry:January 26, 2009 at 12:58 am #118874Out yesterday with the lad in some serious hillclimb area, you know the sort 45-60 degrees with vert step-ups and the like, well I’m here to tell you unconverted heathens, these are the second best mod I can make to my of-roaders, excellent weight transfer is a doddle, jumps are way more controlled, gearchanges are so so smooth and no more feet leaving the peg unless you wish to.
Braking is now much more controlled and my customary leg cramps set in AFTER the ride this time.
Getting off the seat is smoother and in fact If I didn’t know any beter I’d say they could reinvent bread as we know it too…for real tho’ they are now going to be the next thing after suspension sorting on any future off-road Cyles.Buy ’em, fit ’em, love ’em.
