Hey Steve spent a lot of time on pushbikes as a kid & BMX bikes with my kids as both raced at state level, (daughter still does) so the control on a pivot is second nature and just falls into place for me. I believe you’ve down Downhill? so should be a similar learning curve for you hopefully.

AnonymousYeah downhill and XC. I didn’t do so well at XC, too much pedalling
I’m looking forward to having a go, I was wondering if I would just prefer the old school pegs although with everyone else liking them I think I’ll be right. I reckon you’ve got a good point though, the bicycle (that sounds gay) background will more than likely serve as an advantage when coming to terms with them.
Nice to see everyone happy with their new purchases
February 4, 2009 at 9:15 am #119681Ok, after careful consideration and now more than 500km on the pivot pegs I still don’t think I know if I like them. My next plan is to swap back to the stockers and see how I like it and decide after that.
I’d have to say that with the faster trail riding on the Hill End ride the Pivots were pretty good and eased the transition from sitting to standing. I’m not sure I like the unsteady feel when I stand and often found myself with the pegs pivoted right back or forward so that they wouldn’t move. That was a subconscious thing so I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something.
On the really open road type work, the Pivots made no difference of course.
In the single trail or tight twin trail they seemed OK, and I didn’t really notice them. Which is the final reason I’ll swap back to the stockers. If I can’t notice the difference I don’t need them!
It may be that the reason I am not noticing them now is that they work fantastically well, in which case I’ll swap them back on afterwards, but I’ve got a feeling that once they come off they’ll go back in the box and be up for sale.
February 5, 2009 at 12:50 am #120645Ecks what about jumps? you didn’t find the control to centre the bike under you was easier?
probably where I noticed the biggest improvement was steep steep stuff both ascent & descent and when in the air.
I s’pose each of us has different styles and preferences, but I wish they’d been around 30 yrs ago now.
I know PDS was around 30 years ago, it was just called Mono-X and Yamaha tried it and it sucked then too.mr Blue
February 5, 2009 at 1:28 am #120727Well Bruce, I have to admit that I have ridden with the Pivots more than the stockers so I think I need a reality check to see if they are doing the do or not. They seem to be better in the steeper stuff but I can’t really make a definitive call yet!
February 5, 2009 at 5:25 am #120738I am loving them. Never go back to stockers after riding to Hill End on them. They certainly help spread my weight over a broader section of my injured instep and that is the main reason I bought them.

Amen to that brother! After reading that quote I thought you were going to say fingers were overrated again

AnonymousOkay, after having 2 decent rides under my belt I can confidently say that I love the Pivot Pegz too. I don’t stand up all that much so probably don’t get the benefit out of them as those that do, but when I do stand up I find they are great for absorbing bumps and jolts that the terrain throws at you.
I also find they are really good on jump landings. With the flexiblity in movement they give you (which is very subtle) I really do think they would tire you less on a long ride (especially if you stand up alot).
At the present I see no negatives with them and consider them a great investment. If I do find anything else at a later stage I’ll be sure to post it up here
March 4, 2009 at 12:17 am #124822I’ve done over 1000KM on mine now and LOVE EM
March 4, 2009 at 12:20 am #124826I’m used to mine now and will keep them on but wouldn’t get them again. I don’t think the coin was worth the difference. Or something. If I can get motivated to swap them back with the stockers they will be up for sale.

March 4, 2009 at 12:27 am #124828I think they contribute significantly to my comfort after busting the bones in the instep of my foot in November,by haveing a wider platform to stand on.

Here we go again!! I give you $51 and a pickled egg and a pair of size 38 Oneal pants.
March 4, 2009 at 12:38 am #124830Mick, you’re getting close, throw in a brand new $100 note and they are yours!
I thought the stockers on my bike were pretty good really, nice and wide and grippy. The main difference being that they don’t pivot! Obviously the Pivots work for the majority of blokes, just that they don’t set my world on fire, and for the money I’d rather have a new tyre and use the change for a couple of cartons!
