Hey Bulls
I was out riding a month ago and put my leg down after I gassed it a little too hard in a turn and hyper extended my knee. I did not bother getting it checked out as it did not swell but if I load it torsionally my PCL sends me a cruel reminder.
I got away with it but only just, it must have been very close to blowing out and as I have had a full reco before, both cruciates and MCL in one go, so I know the pain and long brutal rehab.
I have looked at the Pod MX braces and they seem good value but do braces really help or are they just a security blanket.
I don’t care about the cost if they actually prevent rupture but is this actually the case?
Cheers for any insights.

Anonymousmost people, including me, buy knee braces after trashing a knee.
i bought CTI EDGE’s and have had the same pair for nearly ten years (with a few new bits every now and then)
they are saving my knees oftento buck the trend of buying knee braces after trashing her knees. racytracy bought some pods. they are very well made, rebuildable and aussie
March 26, 2009 at 10:11 am #126997I have had the CTi2 for around 10 years and swear by them, worth their weight in gold:)
March 26, 2009 at 10:17 am #127000Cheers for the feedback.
I will grab a pair and consider them as much a part of my kit as my helmet is.
Glad I found this site!
March 26, 2009 at 10:18 am #127001I bought my Astrisk braces before failure, see http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=2&func=view&catid=28&id=369#369
they are the best safety gear I own and you dont even know your wearing them

March 26, 2009 at 10:23 am #126977I have the Pod MX braces as Champo has already said earlier. i have had a couple of scary crashes with them on and they have seriously saved my knees and legs. worth every cent and would highly recommend them (altough i have not tried any other brands to compare). i won’t go riding without them.
March 26, 2009 at 10:23 am #127006Cheers TB
I had read that thread after searching “knee brace” so as to be sure that I was not asking a question that had been answered. Very informative and well written review.
The only reason i am looking at POD is beacause I have a contra deal with a mate and if they are up to scratch I will go that way.
P.s With legs that big do you really need braces to hold your knees together. LOL
March 26, 2009 at 10:30 am #127009I don’t wear braces at all and have had 2 posterier and medial cruciate recons in the past. Gasit though, wears braces and had a big off and his leg broke right at the top of the brace and he got himself a helicopter ride for his trouble. It would be interesting to hear his input as I noticed he still wears them and he has got a set for his daughter.
March 26, 2009 at 10:34 am #127012Cheers for the input Racy. We must have posted at the same time and you have answered my question.
In response to you Mick I would rather break both legs than blow another knee, seriously!

Yeah I am hearing you STM, I should have said ,if I could afford a set I would have them. With two kids racing, I have to consider them first and the cost of gear for two kids is enormous.
March 26, 2009 at 10:45 am #127014Good call Mick although maybe Rudd can buy you some, he seems to love throwing away cash.

I had to have a dig as I have enjoyed the humour on this site and if I am going to throw one out there it may as well be at a legend of this site. You bring that bike to Coffs and we can get out there and do what we both love.
