    Hi All,

Fitted a polisport light tonight, wasn’t as easy as I thought:

    Here’s how I did IT.

    Remove existing headlight.
Remove large bracket that holds all the assembly together.

Lucky I did some research before as I had a mate of mine whip me up some
stainless brackets to hold the speedo assembly on (man I’
d love to be able to do that, took him a whole 10mins), when u remove the
bracket there is no longer anything to bolt the speedo assembly to (hence
    the brackets).

Drilled the holes in the brackets.
did the wiring (relatively easy, everything works anyway)

Put the light on.. The light sits right back against the speedo assembly which is what I wanted,
I was able to then use the rubber rings that comes with the light around the forks..

All up a worthwile couple of hours spent, I’m very happy with the result.
I Reckon I removed a kilo or 2 of weight as well..

    Thanks T.B for the assistance..

P.S I reckon I deserve some Karma just click on the Karma Button…:) :)

    Cheers
    Chris.

Karma bullshit, how about your mate (me!) that came over after going out for dinner in his going out clothes, moved a lounge up your bloody stairs and then a fridge inside and then made a chuck key for you drill to drill the brackets and then re bent the brackets when they didnt fit, did I mention to cut through that bracket to get it of or we would still be there.

Who deserves the karma I ask you guys?

You’ve set the standard, Chris. No-one’s working on my bike until they’ve proved they’re fit and have dressed for the occasion!

Seriously though, I’m glad I saw this post before hauling off that fishtank hanging from the forks and put an Acerbis on. I know it’s been a while, but can I run a question past you?

Earth is an easy pick on my Acerbis but is there any smarter way to tell which contact is which on the end of the globe than to plug it in and see what happens?

The globe’s a 12v 35/35; what I know about electrics could only get me into trouble but my guess is I’m not going to weld the front end into a solid mass by getting it wrong (famous last words?) The globe only goes in one way and the whole shooting match looks like this:

    acerbis_rear.jpg

I soldered up a couple of connectors, hit them with cable-labels and shrink-tubed them together, so swapping them around’s not going to be a problem, but for all I know I might pop the globe if I get it wrong first time. They don’t sell these globes on every street corner so any advice would be appreciated!

Replacement ‘mantlepiece’ options are looking a little pricey still, so I’ll run up some cardboard templates for the clock brackets and run up a drawing or (.dxf file) then get a sheety on the case. Any gotchas you can think of?

    Cheers

If you have the earth on the light and the earth on the bike wiring, just hook it up, worse case is low beam will be high and high will be low, no welding required, I did that with Chris’s and we had no dramas. Chris has the templetes for the speedo mount or how to do it

Those stainless steel brackets that chris talks about are to mount the speedo assembly, I am sure he has them and can e mail them or put them on the site here

Hey Nuro, How did you go with the mounting, If you still need anything let me know, I could probably get you some brackets made up..

    Cheers
    Chris.
