Well its project time again this time a DR650. This evening I drove out handed over the last of the cash and loaded the bike. The previous owner had started to set the bike up towards Motard spec. Check the foot pegs, they are so gay I am going to send them down for Menace
Check the power pipe
Its done 23,000kms
Its neat and straight
Check the gay foot pegs, will suit Menaces bike
OK so the bike isnt mine, I wouldnt own a DR
No the bike belongs to a site member and a guy that does a lot for a lot of OBT members so when I was asked would I throw spanners at it I jumped at the offer. He shall remain nameless for now
A list has been started including at this stage
Suspension out and overhauled completely (To be dropped of Friday)
Full Staintune system
Barkbusters
New Grips
Bash Plate
Screen
Headlight protector
New wider foot pegs
Old Bull stickers
Fork Boots
Rear blinkers
New tail light number plate assembly
Set of Continental tyres
Frame guards
28 litre fuel tank
plus whatever else I find in the day light :laugh:The clutch I think needs replacing as it is adjusted correctly and wont disengage probably. I will adjust the valves, new spark plug, new brake pads, wheel bearings, new countershaft sprocket seal, repack the steering head bearings, repack the suspension linkages, change the oil and filter, lube the cables, grease the pivots and then go adventure riding with ???
If anyone has any ideas that could be beneficial get involved and please speak up. I will post the progress as it happens.

September 15, 2010 at 11:13 am #187435I’ve been looking at the DR650 for some time as a perminant adv bike so I’m really keen to see this evolve !
The Roc Stomper damper has been a big asset on my 400. !

September 16, 2010 at 11:29 am #187486Try a HID headligh kit, bar raisers and stonger bars if they are standard, footpeg lowering kit (check bashplate fits, Whipps will need mods), Dynojet put out a kit that is supposed to get good results and comes with a variety of jets for the desired result. Check the oil line is not resting on the Staintune pipe when it’s fitted.
I was planning to do a write up on all the parts fitted to mine but you will save me the effort TB.
What year is this thing?
