I wondered how long it would be be4 a bike was restored while you wait to heal TB, cause that;s what i have done while recuperating from injuries. But in typical TB tyle in doing so you’ve turned it into a good cause, onya Bud.
Some kid is going to be beside themselves on chrissy morning, and that’s priceless.
Actually i’m surprised some Old Bull hasn’t pretended to be a needy kid so you’d fix up their bike for them.
BTW the whole footpeg mounting system on the smallr Yamis needs beefing up as a rule, the daughters TTR90 was a constant fight to keep straight
again good stuff TB

December 6, 2009 at 11:03 am #164043Another day at project 80. Young Mick next door is the kid that designed the OBT Sticker kits on Chops Banana, Kylie’s DR and my fiddy. Mick is always helping with any project that is going on here so today he made and fitted all new back grounds for the plastics. I cleaned them all and used the heat gun to get the white crease marks out as best as possible
I got all the parts undercoated and then painted
All the triple clamps, exhaust, muffler and brackets have also been painted as well in their respective colours
Tomorrow morning I will duck into work early to grab stud removal tool and my easy outs etc.
Plan is to have the engine back in the frame tomorrow if I can.
All parts have been pressure washed, cleaned and inspected

I would say your mate is real appreciative of all the effort your going to
I don’t know he will be able to re-pay the favour
It is amazing what a bit of cleaning and paint can do to an older bike.

December 8, 2009 at 3:11 am #164336I didn’t sell a bike with a flat tyre to any kid. I sold one to you though.
I might just add that you knew it had a slow leak, because I told you prior to the sale.

December 9, 2009 at 8:43 am #164550So today was the big drill the broken stud out of the barrel day.
First I drilled the small pilot hole and got it right in the centre happy days, stepped up a couple of drill sizes and tried a small easy out no good. Drilled up another of sizes, whilst doing this the engine rolls forward and snaps the drill bit of in the barrel  . So I go and get a bundyI get a small centre punch and shatter the drill bit, and finish drilling it. Select next size easy out and it snaps off  An inspection shows the easy out was already fractured  But it had a little bit sticking out and came straight out
It was the Bundy
So I drilled it out in steps and tapped it to the correct size
Before
After
So I fitted the swing arm
Fitted the front end, regreased and repacked the headset and triple clamps front guard handle bars etc
Got the barrel and cylinder head painted
Tomorrow I will get the engine finished and back in the frame. The tank has to go to be restored yet. The front wheel needs some extensive clean up work and I am waiting on a care package from the new owners that I will get this weekend

December 10, 2009 at 8:19 am #164553What a change 24hrs makes it was full speed today as I am busy tomorrow lunching with Mal 5.1
So I got the engine back in the frame and stripped the carby for a clean. I repaired the hole in the back tube (small leak my arse Mick  ) and cleaned up the rims etc
Exhaust on
And presto it just sort of went together
There will be no more updates for a week as I am waiting for stuff
