I’m like Mal, feel nekid on the bike without a pressure suit. I wore “roost armour” back in the day, guess what? it doesn’t actually help as well as a presure suit when you have a big off, cause it’s primarily designed for MX with MX style damage.
As for pressure suits I’ve got a TLD one big open Oxford st type weave but very very cool, I wear either a singlet or in winter a shirt under it.

Have had some big offs with roost gear (hard armour) without anything and with prssure suits, and believe me the pressure suits rule when it counts, the elbow guards, the kidney belt, bbig one the spine protector, (reckon that alone saved me a heap of rehab time a couple of yrs back) the flexible nature of the interlocked panels and sections don’t bounce you around like you’re inside a turtle shell.

It’s like boots and helmet, I’ll sometimes wear long shorts, knee protectors, boots, helmet liteweightgloves and the pressure suit on rides with the kids out the river and it’s cool and covered.

I had a pressure suit style body armour on when i had the misfortune of colliding with a native animal at 90kph and when I stopped slidding, rolling, and bouncing i discovered that I was supprisingly uninjured(minus some internal broken bits that the armour couldnt have saved)i had lost bugger all skin and when i looked at the armour when I got home I neally shat. It was destroyed, all the arm and shoulder protection was cracked, but it done its job. I looked at my knee guards and felt faint when I seen them, lets just say If I wasnt wearing them I probably still wouldnt be walking real flash. I cant see the use of the external chest armour in the bush, unless you are good at not falling on your arms??

Give me a pressure suit anyday. I too had a 661 and found it was comfortable and did a great job. Skins of T shirt is all I wear with it.

The only reason I didnt buy a 661 and the only thing that worries me about them is they dont have a Hard chest plate having seen a branch / stick go into a dudes chest I reckon its a must have. Only seen it once, but only has to happen once.

I don’t know either.. I do know it was very hard to force it on.. The first 30 minutes of the ride was uncomfortable.. How nuts am I as I never thought about putting the jumper on the outside.. :P I was more worried about being cold and as I come from a cold weather climate I was just thinking layers.. :silly:

All the feedback has been great everyone.. Thanks…

I seriously want to look at knee braces but the prices scare me.. However after TB’s first hand experience it appears the money is well spent..

Just looked up the axo gear as I’m a bit of a fan of AXO (had a pair of pants that lasted forever and were cheap). Apparently my armour is not alpinestars as my wayward memory thought. I am the proud owner of AXO Air Cage Pro. My recommendation still stands just for a different brand.

Apparently Dianese is the bees knees in body armour. Expensive though.

I have found a pair of the Asterix knee braces second hand, hopefully they are in good nick when I see them.

Mal and TB you beat me to it about the chest plates, i like the idea of the body suit to keep the elbow guards in place, i use alpine star seperate guards which have been tops but can move around a bit.

But all the pressure suits ive seen in the shops have small soft looking chest plates,so ill have check this one out.

BTW krusty ive got a zac / camel back armour and its been excellent, crashed on it heaps, but dont carry tools in it anymore as it was too heavy with the 3L of water.

    thanks for all feedback fellas…

Do you guys with the pressure suits wear it as the first layer then layer on top of it? What do you wear on top of it?

I think maybe I was uncomfortable this past weekend because I had a t-shirt, log sleeve shirt then a jumper.. I then put the pressure suit on.. :woohoo:

geezus Krusty, i dont wear that many layers down here in victoria…

your in the tropics up there mate

The Thor impact armour has a hard 1 piece chest plate.
It also comes in short and long sleeve versions.
I have the short sleeve, good air circulation!
