Out of the ideas so far it would seem that a weekend at Fraser would be the most interesting from the scenic point of view but as I’v never been there i’v got no idea what sort of riding it would be apart from lots of sand:laugh:  the whole event would be more of a social weekend rather than a hard riding one, but I’m sure it would involve a good piss up;)Lets see some more ideas posted
Yeah, there aren’t any challenging hill climbs or anything like that. The riding would be up and down the beachfront (North to South) which will take you past the wreck. Then you can venture inl;and on the sandy tracks, some of which are wrose than others to anyone of the lakes they have there. Lake Makenzie being the best one.
It was be great as a social weekend and pissup though. I’m tossing up doing a massive drive if this happens and trying to get there myself. Dependant on dates and work stuff.
May 15, 2009 at 1:33 am #132975Sounds like Fraser Is is too hard. Could be a bit monotenous always on sand and hard on the bikes. What about Woodenbong then, is there a pub in Woodenbong? Does anyone live in the area. Where is KTM01? he’s done some riding at Woodenbong, recond it was alright. Does anyone else know the area? Ive been there in 4WD and it was pretty good lots of forestry very green.
What about 13th and 14th June.Gotowo

AnonymousNot that I was a high probability anyway but that weekend I am racing in the Port Macquarie Pony Express with TB
May 15, 2009 at 6:25 am #134358How about the Mullumbimby area. I know it is actually NSW but with the state debt the way it is I am sure NSW would sell it to QLD for the right price:)
The terrain in there is amazing but I don’t know anyone local who knows where the goods are but there must be some plus it is a great little town to stay in and in could lure some Mid North coast Bulls up.
May 15, 2009 at 10:03 am #132976It does sound like the riding on Fraser would be the dissapointing part of a great weekend:( Woodenbong looks to be another possibility but i don’t know the area at all, however if someone does then it could be worth a look.

yep i’m up for a decent ride for sure! dunno about fraser, been there, and considering how crap i am in sand i’d have to leave the bike on the ute and drink turkey all weekend…….
i’ve “heard” there’s a great loop through the border ranges? dunno anything about it but i’m up for almost anything. i do like the idea of a fire trail loop up north around gayndah is it?paul.

and even better is mon – fri so don’t have to miss rides due to weekend work anymore :woohoo:. Been away so long I drove past Husky610’s new place in the truck the other day and was beeping and waving (while he was washing his bike the lucky bugger) and he looked at me like I was some nut ( he knows me well  ).

Let us know when you are coming this way and we could do a local ride (sounds like Husky610 has been exploring new areas) or maybe organise another amamoor ride as it is close, sort of:blink: .
July 8, 2009 at 2:33 am #142243I thought it was you in that truck..Too bad you kept going..i coulda bored you with my smuggness after going for ride… The Fraser idea is something I’m not keen on due to the extra wear on the bike…not to mention me. I had a mate over on Monday from Gayndah (the reason im searching for the old convict route to gayndah), he couldnt believe how much water waslying around.( drive past agian, i’ll be waqshing the bike..AGAIN) We’re trying to organise a ride at Manar park, overnight stay $5.00 if tenting or swag, not sure on a date as yet but I’ll drop a line to let any interested parties know. Manar Park is rather large, has many loops from 6 k’s to 100+ k loops. differing experience levels as well. If anyone on here is wanting to hook up in the MARYBOROUGH area you can email me at ” niknteen@westnet.com.au” as I’m not on here as often as i should be . Sirdropalot…my phone no. is the same as before, I’ve lost yours in the shift..along with many other things which have dropped out of sight(probably boxed in the shed still).

There used to be( still maybe) tracks from Kuranda to Port Douglas, Kuranda to Julatten, Julatten to Cooktown. Also from Kuranda to Mount Molloy throught the area they call Quaids. If your In Cairns, there were also runs from Redlynch up to Kuranda( rather hard run). Its been 20yrs since i was riding up that way, so its hard to know whats still open. If you get up to Ravenshoe, there is tracks around the Millstream area that are a Blast, actually there’re old Tin Mines along teh river from Herberton to Ravenshoe, these make for GOOD riding also. Enjoy . I miss my home town for the riding..nothing else but.
July 14, 2009 at 11:57 am #143475RE: Creb Track
Alls good – reopens sometime towards the end of the month as they are just completing removal by helicopter of the last power line structures. Council now is responsible for the upkeep and have had a fair bit of pressure applied to keep it open by lots of vocal local groups and the tourist sector.

Know the areas you are talking about however they are fairly busy on most weekends and heavily policed – not as bad as down that way but. Called Seven Hills and mt Molloy and runs off Quaid rd up thru the forest to Mt Molloy thereabouts. havent ridden it yet cause Im still recovering form my last off and missed a recent ride up there.

This track is probably covered in houses now, the whole valley is nearly full of houses and most of the range you are talking about is now World heritage listed

Quite good riding Im told up there from quite a few, heaps of places to ride and usually find it hard to come across anyone else in a day. just far enough out of cairns to keep the ratbags out. Plan to spend a few days exploring the area soon.
July 14, 2009 at 12:13 pm #143762Hi Bulla, sounds like it will be a blast up there, it’s a long term plan to ride the Creb one day so may be in touch. Have fun
