In a nutshell myself, Bollocks, Deano and a soon to be member from Barraba John B. went for a quick 400 klm squirt today 27th Dec, well 370 for me and John and closer to 470 by the time Bol and Deano get back to Tamworth.

The route taken was start at Tamworth @ 7:30, head north to Attunga through to Halls Ck Rd, good dirt and into Manilla. Up to Mt Borah where those Crazy dudes jump off attached to a hankerchief to check out the view, (a bad crash up there today after we left apparently), then back down to Split Rock Dam heading towards Barraba.

The 690 and JB’S Transalp needed a drink so a quick change of route to Barraba for juice. Through some of the best grazing country in the state and unfortunately for Bol not past where I was washed off the crossing on my way to this years Xmas Party ride which he was very keen to check out. Up over Spoin Kop Rd where JB wanted to get close to nature and the geology of the area and succeeded with great enthusiasm. :pinch: Both bike and rider shaken but not too badly stirred (although the Transalp has collected a few battle scars).

The big greasy puddle that claimed me on the L/Ridge ride earlier this year was re gravelled so no repeat show. This is where for me things started to go a bit wierd for my KLR 650  . After crossing a fairly long water crossing the kwaka didnt want to go. Lost power to most things then all things. The first of a few push starts for the day saw the beast roar to life and into Narrabri for fuel and food. Further push starts down the main St Narrabri, then a tow from Bol got us up to Mt Kaputar, What a road up! Kwaka would only go with key turned half on and had strong smell of burning bike at one stage :S . Bol was also having trouble with Heidi and ? fuel. Had to keep the Kwaka idiling whilst carrying bikes through locked gate. Got it home and so far hasnt spontainously combusted. Will need major surgery of sorts, maybe plastic. Home, quick beer with dudes and said farewell.

Good day out. Thanks in advance Bol for all the bloomin Photo’s.

    Cheers Razor

    Awesome day :)
Nothing like the smell of a burning KLR and the sound of a Transalp sliding across the dirt road,oh…and Heidis “Fuel Problem” was just pure owners neglect of a thing called an air filter
Thanks for organising a great ride Razor…now go fix your bike…or finish burning it

Well finally back in Newy and am able to download a few photos. Had a great ride on Tuesday thanks to Razor, Bollocks and John. My first real run on the 690 and it performed flawlessly. It loves the fast open stuff but I still need to get use to it in the slow technical stuff. Razor had some dramas with the KLR which held us up a few times and there was some talk of a ceremonial burning at the top of Mt kaputar but it made it home in the end. John’s nice looking transalp ended the ride worse off with both rear blinkers smashed, a bent gear lever and scratched left fairing. :pinch: Heidi had a couple of unexplained shutdowns but Bol didn’t seem too worried and continued on. ;) Beautiful country out there and a great day out.

One of the many river crossings. This is where Razor realized he had lost all electrical’s and the push starting began.
