Seeing as the discussion on Wedding bells state forest got sidetracked I’m gunna quantify my corcerns about serious riding in there.
Now admittedly it has been 4 years since i worked in that forest and the others in the northern management area, but when we were logging in there it was by far the most tranversed forest by the general public, people live out there they take a scenic drive from Woolgoolga down through and onto Sherwood, kids riding MXers at the northern end near woopie down to and across slater road, and it is the only forest where I have seen an illegal trail bike rider get actually downed by tree-felling in a worksite. Every day we worked in there logging there were people coming past the barrier gates and driving/riding on through as if nothing was the matter. Now maybe it has slowed down, but I have also worked extensively in the Watigans as a chainsaw trainer for chainsafe and the traffic there is neglible in comparison.
Just my opinion tempered by my experience.
Three months ago I was riding with another bloke who grew up in the border ranges (Urbenville) where we were riding in an isolated area I watched in horror as three young blokes panicked and he brushed the left hand side of the bullbar on their hilux as he escaped over the bank, I’m a bigger risktaker than most I know but I don’t trust other drivers in the bush, they think the road rules don’t apply on firetrails, should see how many the log truck drivers get and too many bad experiences.
