July 19, 2011 at 3:40 am #202617Gday all,
I bought a one man tent shown in the link below. In a nutshell, this tent packs into a size of 400mm x 150mm dia including steel poles. I have been through Nth QLD wet season torrential rain in one and only been damp due to condensation or slight weeping throught the seems. I use it with a sleeping bag but if i use it when its cold, i will use a rated cold weather bag or have enough piss to nmb me up before sleeping so i dont feel the cold too much.
Prior to using the tent, i set it up at home and set the guy ropes up, to allow an easy setup whilst out in the scrub.
I bought mine for $110 off the net, including delivery and a pillow of some kind that never gets used.

September 3, 2011 at 12:33 pm #202620Tent wise I have a Blackwolf Mantis 2. HTF you can sleep 2 in it is beyond me as it’s pretty tight for one. I’m 6’1 and wouldn’t want to be 6’2. Very light and very strong however. Packs down to about 1/4 of a bed pillow size which I’m happy with.
http://www.blackwolf.com.au/adventure1000078/mantis-ii/Lie on a BCF self inflating matteress with a 35yo down sleeping bag. No probs here
Cooking is still being sorted out. Currently burgers and pub grub. Hopefully on the Wyanlgala ride I’ll get to see some setups before I lash out. some are pretty $$ so I want to get it right.
October 7, 2011 at 3:25 pm #202621I got a Roman self inflating 3/4 Moon Mat (matress) while in Coffs. Also grabbed an inflating pillow to rest the melon
