Especially with the new fuel injected technology just around the corner. I believe KTM will be the first to move on this With a FI KTM250SX

The only reason i will not go back to a smoker ATM is the transport stages between ride sections here.

100 kp/h black top is not ideal for a premix bike, i only found out the hard way because the dealer was only interested in getting the most out of my wallet not me getting the most out of my bike!

i like moto too PM’d a few guys ( Thank you for your input!!;) )

you cannot get a self mix bike like the Suzi TS, Honda CRM anymore:angry: but they were 250’s and just on the small side for a man mountain like myself:unsure:

the 300 had ample, it’s almost night and day difference the 45 or so extra cc made for me.

now if the bike was injected i’d possibly still be riding it today ( ? )

my bro’s aforementioned CRM is oil injected/ self mix, did 10 000 kms before it had/ needed rings fitted,

7500-8500kms of which after the mugen kit was fitted.

so as soon as the ADR FI 300 comes on the market and has proven it’s self, i’ll be talking to the dealer.

Ok 330ml to 10 litres = 33:1, I’m tempted to go back to 25:1, as they definitely make more power if you jet to suit, and people forget their powervalves and bore walls need lube too, IMHO powervalve failure or premature wear is from trying to run 50-60:1 ratios and the oil is less than really required.

XY I’m sorry but a CRM and a TS can in no way be compared to a EXC250, YZ250 et al, different ballgame, like comparing a royal enfield to a YZF600, my YZ actually has ahigher rated HP than the 300exc. I was 110KG (give or take a kilo here and there) starkers and the race bred 250s still waltzed me around without any effort.

yes i do realise that comparing the CRM and TS to the YZ and EXC is not fair.

the main point i’m trying to get at is the engine life of the self mix/ injected bikes over the premix, >>in my situation, anyway<< the CRM wins hands down. and the two bikes were not ridden any harder than the other just my bike did 20km to and from the riding places.

side point, sort of: the CRM had the 300 for the first 2 gear changes on the flat, in a straight line.

while your YZ has a higher HP output than the 300 EXC, the 300 would have a wider toque curve and more of it?

i can see where xy-transets coming from if you have pristene singlr track at your front gate go the two stroke but if you want a bit more versatility and sometimes have to hit the highway with b-doubles at 110klms you can t beet a 4stroke with 6 gears and the servos arnt to close together.(two strokes arn t that much better in the single track anyway maybe in 1st and second gear unless you ride a 125 there neet)

A good read Bruce. Like someone said in the comments it sounds like someone needs to actually make a bike instead of all of this ‘hype’ that seems to have been going on for years.

PS – My comments above regarding 2 strokes are funny to read given my current situation. I should also point out that although I now own a 2 stroke ollie has still never overtaken me :P
