Under the WR’s rear guard there is a steel support bracket that runs from the frame to the taillight, Has anyone removed this, I believe it is safe to do so, on the hillend ride it must have came loose and I currently have it cable tied up, but want to remove it.

    Cheers
    Chris.

I tried mine, but it was more complicated than it looks, something like the spacers on the end of the bracket are required in order to bolt the plastics to – I can’t remember. I also have cable ties on mine.

Mick from Catombal bike park has removed his but I haven’t checked to see how he got around the problem.

Hey Ecks, apparently in my spares kit I have some alternate bolts for when this is removed, I haven’t checked yet but will tonight.

    Cheers
    Chris.

    P.S. Hows the work going.

On my 04 model, the steel frame was removed from day one and haven’t had a problem since. The guy down the road who also rides a wr450, was constantly having problems with the bolts coming loose on his frame and was reluctant to remove it as he was worried about additional strain on the rear guard. Well after tightening up the bolts for the umpteenth time, he bit the bullet and removed the frame.

Guess what?? He hasn’t had a problem since either.

Twit that I bought the bike off… fair dinkum! I’ll see if I can’t track the bolts down elsewhere.

Work’s been cooking for the past two weeks and I’m hoping it continues. Its just so inconsistent, makes it impossible to plan for anything.

Cheers Slug, I’ll look into it too.

Good to hear the works been good ECKS, I wonder if we can find part numbers for those items.

Part numbers would be nice. I’ll be at a dealer sometime next week so I’ll ask then.

Check your PM’s by the way.
