Rego check.

Well I went down to my usual bike shop for a rego check today, and the guy had been spooked. The last couple of times he was OK with a few missing bits,but to day It wasn’t just the rear blinkers and chain guard but he wanted DOT compliant tyers as well. I’m fine with putting the blinkers and chain guard on for rego,but tyers ? :unsure:
I was just wondering what every one ells dose about rego time,,,do you change your tyers every time?

I heard similar a few weeks ago from a guy in Newcastle at work,,

My 690`s rego is due next week, but I don`t need an inspection again this year
I already run DOT approved rubber anyway, blinkers are there etc etc, but the chain guard is never on. Horn and front brake switch were dodgy, but I sorted them out last week (just dirt stuffing them up)

Maybe grab a spare second hand set of tyres that are ok to pass and leave them in the shed year after year :laugh:
Have you tried another place for the inspection yet ?? Will probably get lucky :laugh:

Know him personaly tho…Ive heard of places making you have all the shit even number plate lights…
Ask around.. I did my Ps with not for hwy use MX tyres, the guy said it was fine…guess some people tow the line more than others in this “nanny state”

I had my WR450 blue slipped about a month ago. I turned up with Metzeler MC5 front and rear. They are not DOT approved but don’t have any markings saying “not for highway use” or “off road use only” or the like. The inspector wasn’t sure and contacted the RMS who told him if the tyres don’t have such markings then all they need to have is a minimum 6mm tread depth. Happy days.

The not for highway use is only applicable in California usa.So I was told.
Grind it off if inspector is anal.
