How many klms has anyone got out of a EXP Rekluse clutch before it needed replacing ?
July 15, 2014 at 11:18 am #258308Hi Smally
I have done 7500 km (190 Hrs) with a EXP Core 2 Rekluse clutch fitted to my 2012 Husaberg FE 570 and except for the annoying rattle and shudder just above idle when taking off up hill some times, it’s been Ok to date. I did however, fry a set of the fibre plates at about 3500 to 4000 km when I had to slip the clutch lot when I had no option but to push and walk beside the Berg out of a steep and loose 300 m long up a non-track slope in mid summer when the engine temp gauge showed 127 Deg C.
It also slips a bit in higher gears when the engine oil has not reached full operation temp – after the engine heats up its all good.July 15, 2014 at 11:25 am #258309Wow that’s impressive Ross . I’ve done 2600klm on my exp 2.0 in a wr450 and have found the ball bearings on the wedges have worn into alloy therefore not wedging open and giving clutch slip . Overall im still very happy with rekluse and will probably upgrade to exp 3.0 next time but for now they replaced this one under warranty which runs out in 10 days lol
July 15, 2014 at 11:26 am #258310Im interested to see what average rekluse life span is for trailriders
July 16, 2014 at 2:44 am #258311Smally,
I’ve got about 4500k’s on my Recluse Core EXP 2 on my Kato and used the original clutch which now has nearly 12000 k’s on it.
I really like it in the gnarly stuff, and used Ollie’s hand brake idea for parking on steep hills

See you Friday :woohoo:
Adam.
July 16, 2014 at 3:26 am #258312Hi Adam
What is Ollie’s hand brake idea on steep hills?
I use a Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake as well as retaining the original hydraulic Berg clutch. It’s a bit cumbersome at first to get used to the 2 levers on the left bar but I really only used the OME clutch on rare occasions when I need more revs than actual speed.
Smally’s comment that he only wanted to hear from TRAILRIDERS amused me. I maybe over 60 but I still trail ride 20 to 25 days per year ( now only a grade 3/3.5 rider instead of a 4++) and have worn out over 25 trail bikes in the last 45 odd years and have ridden virtually every track & Fire Road the Bega Valley and 100 km and beyond.
Besides the Husaberg FE 570 I also have a fully optioned geared down (12/53T) Christini DS 450 all wheel drive with a Rekluse Z start Pro clutch and LHRB – mounted Chainsaw etc etc for the real snotty stuff.

Ross,
A piece of front tube round your handlebar stored on your barkbuster. When you need to park on a steep hill pull the tube over your brake lever and presto a park brake.
You’d be surprised how often you use it.
Adam.
July 16, 2014 at 5:54 am #258313Ok. Simple and cheap solution. Thanks, I’ll give it a go.
July 16, 2014 at 7:50 am #258324Geoff Ballard told me about these, the theory is solid and they work great I am told by people that have and still use them
