    Good report STM.

Is there anybody that has ridden both who can confirm they do the same thing all be it in a different design?

I think the Dyna ring (Lefty’s) is only an anti-stall device. It auto engages from a stationary position but once moving you still have to use the clutch manually. But then again most people don’t use the clutch going up gears anyway so the Dyna ring is a good way to go. Also I don’t think the Dyna ring has the adjustment that the rekluse has. Rev-Loc have there own auto clutch which I was told a couple of years ago was a better system than the rekluse. Rekluse just marketed their’s better.

With the rekluse you can adjust the engaging rpm and also the engagment rate.[/quote]

Thanks Mal, that makes sense. I don’t think I would need a fully automatic clutch but one that would not stall on hills and when you jam on to much rear brake in corners would be nice.

The Rekluse looks like an awesome but of kit but like most I balk at the price.

    Hey Scotty,

That is definately what the Rev-Loc is good at “not stall on hills and when you jam on to much rear brake in corners”

    Cheers,

Enjoy the clutch mate. It can make riding much more enjoyable in most situations and frustate the hell out you in a few.

Mal can you please explain the “frustate the hell out of you” what issues do you see on the clutch?

Sorry STM, last highjack of your excellent review of a good product. :)

The three main frustations I had are to do with not having an electric start bike.

    1) I couldn’t start it in gear if it stalled and you can still stall the bike. Very frustating mid corner. The clutch had a bit to much drag that I couldn’t adjust out of it without going to far the other way.

    2) Not making up a nasty hill and having a brain fade when the bike finally stalls and starts rolling backwards a great rate of knots. Very frustarting and painfull when you and the bike are cartwheeling down the hill.

    3) Not being able to clutch start the bike.

Highjack over. Might start a new thread on auto clutches.

It would be interesting to hear from The Sutto’s boys the diffrence and what improvements have been made. I know the EXP uses wedges instead of balls but what other refinements are there in the new Core EXP. I know I only had one day on mine but it was a solid ride in tough conditions and my bike never even gave a hint of stalling and I had a few offs and got hung up in some technical stuff.

Yeah I think the internals are completely different and the adjustment is eaier on the EXP. I heard when the EXP came out the big thing about them was that they retain the clutch feel.

I’m not bagging the rekluse or blaming it for stalling. It was most likely a jetting/tuning issue.

I loved my rekluse while i had it. Now I have a nice light hydraulic clutch and don’t see a need for one YET.

I would put one in a 4 stroke if I went that way again.

It’s a wierd feeling for the first couple of rides. :woohoo:

For various reasons King STMs WR250 with new Rekluse fitted ended up at my house after last weekends ride. Being the good bloke he is he offered me a ride before he came up on the weekend to collect it. As soon as the phone went down I shortened my working day by 2 hours to take up the offer.

Riding out the back of my property is a decent hill climb whichever way we go so I geared up and headed up Arm pump hill which is always a good start to a ride as within 200 meters your going up and keep going for 2 km.

I was amazed at how quickly I got used to the rekluse , I started feathering the clutch at the first tricky bit then remembered what I was testing bs just left the clutch lever alone from then on.
The hill is sandy corners and erosion mounds all the way to the top and I have to say the rekluse was outstanding , their was no wheel spin and heaps of traction out of corners no matter how hard you went in and out.
The top section has 2 options 1 easy one rough, rutted and steep , I took the harder as the rekluse instills instant confidence and it went up no problem. I had a second go and stopped halfway , now on my bike I would have dug a hole and been lucky to progress forwards. The WR took off easily with no wheel spin and effortlessly rode to the top. I then rode off piste trying to make the thing fail , again I found myself at the top.
Now I came back down the hill via a particulary steep single , normally I would rely on the engine break to go down here with a little rear brake and front to keep things steady. I went over the crest and although in 1st gear picked up speed and go halfway down quicker than ever before. I then remembered STM saying to give the throttle a little ‘ blip’ to engage engine breaking which I did and bought the whole show under control.
I did this loop a few times and have to say the mixture of a light 250 fitted with a rekluse clutch makes single track riding effortless and ups your speed and confidence a few notches.
Would I get one on the Drz? No. The package STM has complements itself with weight and auto clutch whereas I think the heavy Drz would still be a wrestle through the tight stuff. Hill climbs are easier with the Rekluse no doubt but the Drz tractors up most hills with or without me on board.

Its a great thing and if I ever bought a lighter enduro bike I’d fit one in a heart beat !!

Thanks for the ride STM !!
