After agreeing to help John Hudson with a route this weekend for his APC ride series Lefty and I went along for a look and a ride.
We gathered at the Commercial in Lithgow after I suggested it be moved there from Wisemans because of the availability of better riding and that I had existing routes out there.
We traveled out and got our accommodation sorted, loading the punters GPSs wasn’t the normal pressure packed few hours it is on the Old Bull Nav rides as I only had 4 to load including John’s not 50 to 70 we have had lately.Bikes were loaded and packed for an early start
Mine
Lefty’s
I decided to wear my new Sidi’s (well there are 8 months old but never worn because I don’t like change   ) They looked great before, well let’s just say they went to shit
New helmet is going well thanks Squiggle
John had his across Australia 1190 KTM
Lefty and I left early after playing up on a school night, way too many drinks for a school night saw me wake very 2nd hand. I was whinging about my boots, the back brake pedal, lack of talent and was as dry as a magpie’s foot (hung over) then I broke my camel back mouth piece :pinch: . I was beginning to think it was going to be a long day. Lefty was contending with dust hanging around because of no breeze. The below shot was taken a few minutes after Lefty pulled up and you can see the dust is just hanging in the air, there aren’t any other bikes around.
The wild life was pretty neat
We arrived in Orange some 480kms covered by 2.20pm, picked up a new mouth piece for my camel back, some beers and checked in. Yup we rode hard and fast all day, we used the first day route from the June ride but there were some tougher sections added at the Orange end. There were some untidy moments for sure, some overshoots, some paddock runs   but we stayed upright all day.
Top 10 shootout watched, beers consumed and once cleaned up my sister picked us up dropped us at the pub. We waited for the others at the pub and maybe had too many beers again
More later

Cant do anything much with it as the suspension is absolute crap and the shock fades in the car park as you load the bike by the descriptions we heard
Its not half the bike the 990 was from what I can make out.TB

+1 on that TB I think they have a lot of work to do on the next model if they are to take over from the 990 as dirt bike, they seem to be going the soft Latte’ europe option and not really good for our great Ausie conditions only time will tell.
Sounds like you guys had a good ride in the end! I was thinking of you guys as it was hot as hell at home with the wind and all. :ohmy:October 15, 2013 at 12:08 pm #250691So up early the next morning, Lefty and I took off out to the mountain and into th pines we used on the June ride. Didn’t seem to have the same excitement we had in June with only 3 riders which included John
Anyway once through the pine forests and into the Australian natural bush and over Mt Tomah we stopped and waited. After a while they turned up john first, he was sweeping
Then the remaining guys, the kiwi fellow on the KLX 400
And the guy on the Husky 630. Sorry guys don’t remember your names
Soon we were out towards Pennsylvania State forest and we came across a bridge washed out so a crossing through the swamp was put in to place using some tin and logs etc
Lefty
Ol mate on the 630
Everyone through
Views from the ride
Trucked on after Neville, we hadn’t seen the others and hoped Homer was sweeping them now. We decided to stop at Tarana pub for a quick beer, great race update and a feed.
Once at Yetholme we thought we would fuel and take the guys through a Sunny Corner but they decided they had had enough.Lefty’s bike then fell to pieces
He went to put the stand down and it fell off, was a funny end to the day. Well not quiet the end, we ran an old secret track into Rydal, some singles and into Lithgow.
Once the bike were loaded we took off home, I got to watch the end of the race and go out that evening with Salina and the boys to flip out. Thanks Lefty for the great ride

October 15, 2013 at 7:45 pm #250743Great report there TB and I am sorry that I haven’t gotten to mine yet  It has been a little out of control at work at the moment but I will sort it out soon…….
It was a great ride although you said at one or two stages during the ride that you didn’t see any dust  but I can assure you we have some good quality Aussie dust west of the great divide :woohoo:
What is it with those stand bolts??
Report to follow.
Cheers, Lefty

LeftyOctober 22, 2013 at 9:59 am #250760Well I have finally gotten around to my ride report for the APC 2day Nav ride. There has been a lot happening around the mountains lately with the bush fires so I think that we were very lucky to have been able to go on this ride the week before.
TB picked me up from home and we were off to Sunny Lithgow for the night where we met up with John Hudson and his group of riders albeit small. TB had the loading duties of the GPS’s and we were leading the way in the morning which was going to be awesome.
The weather was great although it would have been nice for a little rain the night before as it was as dusty as hell!!!! I tried to ride back out of the dust however there was not a scrap of wind and the dust was just hanging in the air.
It was a great ride once again from TB’s list of routes and yes day one was a familiar one but a favourite with a great mix of trails and tracks.
TB bought along his new SIDI boots to try however he was still looking at wearing his favourite Gaerne SG10’s until I convinced him to put them back in his ute… however he did manage to put shit on them all the same……..literally!!
We arrived at our destination in Orange by mid-afternoon and managed to watch the top ten shoot out at Bathurst while Hommer and his riders were still on route to Orange.
It was a few hours later that the others arrived at the Western Hotel in Orange and by all accounts they had a great day. After a few ale’s and tales it was time to catch a cab back to our accommodation, ready for day two
More Later….
Cheers, Lefty -
