    Friday:-

I arrived to very warm and sunny Nundle pulling into the Van Park around 10:30am. Reception mentioned that the cabins wouldn’t be ready until the afternoon. I inquired if they knew where the owners of the ute and bikes were as I seen no local bulls in sight. She kindly told me they were in the forest collecting wood. I strolled across the road to the local cafe for a coffee and upon returning Polly was hanging around the boys ute and bikes. A quick introduction and nice chat waiting for the local Bulls to return. The boys returned shortly with a bike trailer full of wood. Greetings were conducted and everyone proceeded to the fire pit. After unloading the wood we all headed across the road with everyone getting various foods and drinks. In no time one by one Bulls appeared.

Cabins became available one by one and the timing couldn’t have been any better as the Friday Bull riders were ready to suit up and get a taste of what was too come. Iva had booked a cabin and kindly let me share the extra room. The cabins were very nice and great value for money. Good size with a full kitchen, shower and toilet. We unloaded the bikes and gear and then proceeded to gear up.

Boony gave the riders brief and off we went. A quick 7k’s of blacktop then right into the bush. Not sure how far but we traveled a short distance on the fire trails to get to the local boys playground. I enjoyed the ride to the playground as I was able to get comfortable as it takes me a bit to get settled in. Fast and flowing with a nice shale rock hill climb and few ruts to keep you on your toes. Pine single after pine single was pretty much the rest of the ride. Slow ones, fast ones, single ones, twin ones and of course new ones.. The boys have everything. The twin stuff was very fun with good size water diversion humps. The new stuff is going to be so so good once it is nicely bedded in. I had a great ride Friday, stayed upright and felt good for the day to come. What a buzz it was and I wasn’t sure how much better it could get.

On the ride back on the black top we came across a tow truck winching a vehicle from the side of the road. It apparently had been there for over a week and the local copper was warning the traffic as the towie winched the vehicle out. We stopped and the boys had a quick chat to the local copper as he is a rider and they talked him into coming along on Saturday to the berry patch. How good is that a local police escort..

We arrived back to the Van Park and everyone proceeded to run for the eskys, shower and change of cloths. One by one Bulls began to gather outside Boony and Snowys cabin. Drinks laughs and good conversation about the afternoon teaser ride was had. Everyone had arrived by now and the group headed over to the local pub for drinks and dinner. A night of food, drinks and laughs was had by all. A really great atmosphere and great vibe and those who rode earlier all had grins. Everyone was looking forward to next day.

    More to come…………………….

    Saturday:-

I was up around 6am or so. A cup of java and some brecky was consumed. Over the next hour or so various Bulls began to appear and one by one everyone suited up and began congregating waiting for the brief and start. We set off around between 7:30-8:00am and went the same path to the bush accept this time a different dirt route to the main playground. No time was wasted and we went straight down a long rocky down hill, across a creek and got stuck right into a hill of theirs they call the steps. I was doing fine until about 2/3’s and stalled the bike. Decided to not fight it and I just lied her down. Then turned her around to the last flat spot and continued on. It wasn’t a difficult hill but steep so momentum was name of the game…

Over the next 4 hours we pretty much rode the 70 or so k’s to the berry patch weaving in and out of singles. There were some really fast transport sections and one of the many highlights of the weekend was chasing Aaron down at obnoxious speeds bouncing over water diversion mounds. He lined me up in the previous single and was toying with me. I tried my best to not allow him to get around me and then over took a tight turn and he and ChrisT flew past. It looked like they were having a go then ChrisT pretty much did what I did and he over took a turn allowing Aaron to blast past. Once out on the fast flowing stuff it was game on and I chased Aaron for a few k’s. It was awesome blasting over diversion humps nearly side by side… He always shot way out in front of me though as he is so much quicker around the corners than me. What a massive adrenaline rush it was..

The group flowed really well. 2 man corner man, lead rider and dual sweeps.. Things were running like clock work. There was some discussion around possibly running late but all was well and we arrived right on schedule. The bbq was already fired up and cooking were some really nice sausages, chicken rissoles and chicken wings.. The lunch included drinks and desert as well… What a great feed literally in the middle of no where smack dab in the bush….. After feeding ourselves and the bikes we made the move for the ride back. The boys mentioned it would be faster flowing singles with some creek crossings.. It didn’t take long for me to realize I was fatigued.. I had the mojo all morning and the long rest at the berry patch allowed the adrenaline to die down. I started out taking it easy but just couldn’t help myself on the some of fast flowing stuff… There were a few small bog holes that caught some out and caused some to play spray the bull… Funny as…..

We finally pulled into the last fast flowing twin track that lead to the road home. I had a great day and thought I would finish it off with a blast and some nice jumps off the diversion mounds… The track had a shallow bank that ran along the side in some spots.. I hit the first mound hard and flew what felt like forever and noticed ruts.. I had enough momentum and cleared the ruts and bottomed the bike out… WooHoo that was cool lets do it again… Next one same thing hit hard but this time seen the ruts before launching and backed off a bit and just made it landing at the end of ruts and bounced a little.. You would have thought I would have worked it out by now that there are huge ruts on the other side of these mounds… Nope I blast towards the next one and this time it got me.. I kick the bike slightly to the right in the air and landed dead centre in rut land with the front in one rut and the rear in another. I cracked the throttle upon landing hoping it would re-align me but the rear bit and the front jumped and the bike laid sideways right into the side bank. The bike kept going and I just hit the ground on me left side. It knocked the wind out of me and I rolled over to see if anyone was going to fly over and land on me…. I watched Boony literally jump off his bike letting it crash down and come running towards me. It must have looked a lot worse than it was as him and Aaron got to me pretty Quick and you could see the worry in their eyes. I let them know I was OK just had to catch me breathe and had some loss of pride…

Riding the rest of the way at a much slower pace I notice my bars and forks were twisted to the left as I needed to use a local tree to bang things back in line. I reached the end of the track where everyone else was waiting. Snowy announced that was it and we were heading back… I was sort of glad as I could really feel the fatigue and was a bit sore from the off. We blasted off once everyone gathered and we rode what seemed like forever in a massive dust storm. Once back on the black top the rolling race fun began. I rolled out front with nickj, christ and sam. They all over took me and the 4 of us raced down the hill. I was able to move up a bit getting around a 4×4 on a hair pin dog leg turn. It didn’t help much and I ended up fourth.. Then I had a dumb ass moment and fired the bike up and dropped it into first.. What a dumb ass as the bike screamed its head off I quickly pulled the clutch in… Boony had a good laugh though!!!

Esky’s, showers and change of cloths were the order of the day. We got back around 4pm or so and just completed 6 solid hours of kick ass trail riding. This ride was no doubt one of the best Old Bulls rides I’ve been on. The trails these boys have are definitely worth the term GOLD………….. I will no doubt be spend much more time riding with the boys if they’ll have me. I’ve already have told the wife that a once a month trip will most likely be in order…. 4+ hour drive but well well worth the effort..

Dinner at the pub again and repeat of the previous night… Good Food and Drinks with some great company in a great atmosphere.. The King went around collecting money from the Plebs for a donation to the local fireies… There were also some prizes given away that were donated by Chris72a… After awhile some of us gathered at the fire pit for a night cap and story telling about the awesome day we all just had.

Thanks again to everyone who made the weekend happen.. It was well organized and smooth as on the trails.. The only fault I could find is the dust and that was something out of the locals control.. You guys have it good and thanks for a memorable weekend.

No pics or Video from me as I was having too much fun to be bothered…………………..

Not a great weekend for me, three flats Fk’n hell. Still got some good riding in, has anyone mentioned the dust yet ….
Thanks to Boony and Snow for the trails and good company, King Bolls for the Latte Tour on Sunday and assitance with organising various activities, Damnus and Polly for sweeping (these blokes are both Bloody legends!) and the 20 or so Ol Bulls who helped me with various flats. No flats in about 6 years three in one weekend, go figure….
Thanks also to Mr S Nagle from Tamworth Cycle Tune who offerred me a 19 inch tyre off one of his bikes (shame mine was an 18) still the spirit was there so I bought a full set of tyres and tubes from Cycle Tune (even though they were Orange) on the (aborted) Saturday to get me going without failure on Sunday.
My first Ol Bulls ride, to all those who attended, what a great bunch of blokes!

Thanks to the Tamworth crew for a great weekend of riding, particular thanks go to Snowy, Boony, Damus, Polly and of course the King for leading, sweeping and organising everything. Thanks also to C M Tools via Chris72a for the donation of the prizes

The whole weekend ran really smoothly with the only hold ups being from flat tyres. Poor Iva had 1 flat on Friday and 2 on Saturday before pulling the pin and then eventually riding to Tamworth with the flat rear (the tyre was stuffed anyway) to get new tyres and tubes all round so he could ride again on Sunday, big effort.

As has been mentioned there was plenty of dust, even on some of the singles but it didn’t detract from a great weekend of riding on some really sweet trails with great company. Friday there were 15 riders, Saturday 21 and Sunday I think there were 11 on King Bollocks Latte tour.

There was a raffle on Saturday night of the items donated by C M Tools with the proceed to go to the local fire station. I was lucky enough to win the first prize after The King was drawn out but disqualified himself and had a redraw. Thanks Bol.

I didn’t get any photo’s on the weekend, I pulled the camera out once only for the low battery warning to come on but I have around 8Gb of footage to sift through. Dude hase given me a memory card to load some footage onto which he will add to his to make a DVD of the weekend. I saw Polly with the camera out a few times and at least one other person so hopefully there are some good pictures to come. I tried styling it up riding behind Dude with the camera pointed at me but anyone that has seen me ride will know that I have no style :D

This was the Kings first ride with his new steering dampner and recluse clutch and he was really enjoying it too until Pep stole it and rode like that all the way to the berry patch leaving King Bollocks to slum it on a KTM for the next few hours

Thanks again to all and here is a bit of footage from Saturday

I tried once to stop and take a photo during the ride at a creek crossing.
By the time i finally got my camera out the two sweeps were sitting on their bikes staring at me saying WTF are you doing?
I gave up after that, the pace was just on all day.
I know Polly got some…he is our media man..i’m sure he will post them up soon :)

Just like Boony said “f$&@ one goat and everybody remembers” :silly:
Yes nick you do seem to be unfortunate to have to put up with me and dude under similar circumstances allot. Sorry about that.
On a more serious note. Me kevdog and mat had a rolling drag in top on the crf’s and kevs rounded up mine and almost had its way with the 280 kitted one. For those that dont know the bikes kevs is stock. Mine has a complete procircuit pipe and was jetted. And mats has a 280 kit with a slip on exhaust. The engine was fresh from being done. There were lots of other variables ie rider weight etc. but this was a little unexpected. Wtf ??? All had stock gearing. Would have been good to see how your hot cams kitted one would have gone?? Thanks again for the ride on yours it was nice to see what I needed to do to mine. ;)
I am working on getting my photos on here soon with a bit more of a report:) but I will say now thanks to all involved as I had a great time :)
