March 6, 2014 at 10:19 am #254774Hey TB you can put me down for this one as well, its time to get back on the big girl, not been on it since the last ride. New KTM is addictive 👿
Still sporting bald knobbies and a broken indicator from the last run but will be ready to roll with a bit of TLC
Might even try your recommended tire combo this time around maybe.
Skyrider will also be attending on the panzer (aka GS) so stick his name down as well

March 7, 2014 at 11:52 am #254357Hi all
First post around here but i am hoping that all going to plan i should be on this ride.
Been out of action since I busted my ACL and had knee surgery a while back.
Been working like crazy on my physio/cycling to build my strength back up and have just been to see the surgeon and he has given me the go ahead to ride, from the 6 month since surgery mark which lines up almost to the day with this ride
Sold all my bikes just prior to the surgery but have just picked up a new to me 2012 KTM 500exc which I am in the process of setting up as a lightweight ADV bike.
Looking forward to seeing the high country again. Been down there lots on road bikes but only once on a dirt bike which happens to be the ride that Alan posted up the link for earlier in the thread.
Look forward to seeing you all there
March 7, 2014 at 12:29 pm #254358This looks like a ride not to be missed, leave confirmed, will chase accommodation tomorrow. Email, ring etc to confirm spot. May trailer down, any talk on where car can be left

It will be good to catch up with you Pete , I’ll ride with you if you like , I know you and I can find a comfortable pace for us , be good to see what you have done to the 500 to Advize it too .
You gunna camp or pub it ? I’ll have a spare bed at Jindabyne in my room if you want it ( Thursday night ).Cheers
AlanMarch 8, 2014 at 12:34 pm #254813Hi Alan
Planning on pubbing it at this stage. Wanna keep the weight off the bike to make any potential technical riding easier on my knee.
A bed in your room at Jindabyne would be great.
Only just got the bike and havn’t really had a chance to even lay a finger on it since putting it in the garage.
Its stock ATM with a B&B bash plate.
So far i have ordered a 20l Acerbis and a rack/luggage system, rad guards and case covers.
Tank and luggage is as shown on this bike.

http://harcus.smugmug.com/Other/Mini-Rack-KTM/i-97qmx33/0/M/PB060011-M.jpgWould be great to ride with you. Be a relaxed pace though whilst building confidence in knee. Probably be my first proper ride on it.
March 13, 2014 at 10:49 pm #254822Bed in Jindy is yours Pete , That rack looks good .
I’ll ride with you , won’t matter about your speed I am sure it will build over the 3 days , I am an old relatively unfit Bastard so I need to stop often to recover anyway , especially after anything technical or really rough and as TB will tell everyone at the rider briefing , it’s not a race .
But I do like to be the first in the bar at the end of the day
.
Keep us updated with the bike build .
Cheers

March 15, 2014 at 6:33 am #254359I was at the Cold Flame rally last week end. The Barry Way was in great nick. It had been wet so no dust but good traction. Great fun. Went up and down it a few times (ran out of beer).
I cannot wait for this ride. One of the best locations on God’s own earth.
