ha ha that would get you shot at where i live
January 29, 2010 at 1:55 am #169822In the days I was riding a GPZ1100 a nod sufficed
Taking any hand of the bars at 250kph would of been a bit iffy  :woohoo: :woohoo:
Cheers
MurphJanuary 29, 2010 at 2:59 am #169782hmmm. i’m now going to modify my behaviour now!!!!
i can no longer nod with a twist to the left
as it no longer implies i only acknowledge a fellow rider out and about doing the exact same as me, enjoying the ride.
so i think i’ll have to go back to the big thumbs up.
i don’t think i’ll go as far as Mr Boon’s or TB’s flamboyant style
car drivers do look at you weird like, when i coast into the 50/60 zone from 100 while no handing  , adjusting by bag or stretching or the like.

AnonymousSince doing more riding on the road with having the KLR, it does seem that road riders do like to wave. Which is good, dont get me wrong
I usally do the nod or left hand wave. Some riders I have seen do get rather excited with their waves though  TB
Except for those who ride v twin American bikes, they are just far too cranky to wave to a mere mortal on a jap bike

You can still go with the left twist nod xy. It might just have been old mate looking a bit fancy.

you are both just jelous that mine aren’t being “looked after/ owned” by someone other than me.
i.e. mine are still intact and not in a missus’ purse or hand bagFebruary 4, 2010 at 10:20 am #169856Had this girlfriend that thought it was really funny to unzip my pants and expose me to the other road users. While I was riding my bike with her on the back of course. :cheer: This is one example of how not to wave at othe riders!!!

I use to do a lot of road riding on the ‘Duke’ and the wave thing was always of interest/humour to me.
I remember one particular guy early in the morn on a trip through Newcastle a few years ago, almost stand up arm over head and wave himself off the bike, till he got the death wobbles!!
I think he was riding his brand new ‘fat-boy mid life crisis cure’ down the shop for the milk & paper, chaps, finger less gloves and all!He got the usual left hand off the bars wave from me and a shake of the head whilst laughing to myself inside the Helmet.Oh well he was having fun!
I Use to ride with a bunch of really quick guys, who loved to ‘sneak’ up on air compressor’s and weave in and around them 1 inside 1 outside !!!! (you just had to be selective which ‘patch you picked’)…
Hay Mal ring 1800 BMW, you know the number you ring for them to fly out and wipe it down before & after a ride!!!LOL!!!
they will tell you how ta wavejust ‘joeking’!!!
Cheers
MacKa…
Hi all,, Mal found me lurkin about here and made post!!!February 5, 2010 at 4:29 am #170308The Jappa sportbike riders here and in SE QLD mostly used to use the “lift the left hand off the grip in a simple open palm, and nod”, anything more is rather “excerburant” and probably a bit Homyspecial.
but if that’s your thing go ahead.BC
be understated
February 5, 2010 at 4:43 am #170320do what I do.
I just ignore everyone :woohoo: :woohoo:
normally I am that scared I will not let go of the bars to wave anyway, the other riders probably could smell my fear if they follow me.
February 5, 2010 at 4:55 am #170322I knew two brothers that lived at Mangrove Mountain, rumour from a source that used to see it happen was when they came towards one another up there in their cars they used to cross to the wrong side of each respective road side to pass if that makes sense
Very silly stuff, never saw it but like I said heard plenty about it
