So if your missus wants to go to the snow but you want to go riding heres the answer.

Went down to Jindabyne for easter to ride with Polly and my nephews and in between the parties and fun we got in a few days riding.

Day one:Being a tightarse I hate the idea of paying to go riding when we have Nundle for free, but the boys took us to a bike park about a half hour down the Barry Way from Jindabyne called Wild Dog Moto park, run by a great bloke and all very friendly and good value for money. Not a huge set up by any means but it has a mass of super tight single trails that never quit and never give you a break to the extent that 40 km of trails on the day had me stuffed (plus trying to chase down some bloody quick mongrel nephews). Trails are sandy loam tight twisting, up and down hill an all in all bloody good fun and thoroughly reccomended.

Day Two was down into the vic high country, with unmatched views across the Snowy Mountains pretty open stuff mainly but every frikin rock in Australia lives there either as loose rocks or as big rock shelf.
Funny to watch 4wds struggling up and down trails that the bikes dont really even notice. Individually the trails were not that testing but after 140 km of it my arms felt like they belonged to someone else and I struggled to hold a beer that night. Polly was just as bad and had to drink firewater instead which made him a very messy Polly. If I ever see another rock it will be too soon.

Sounds like you had a ball Snowy !! I enjoyed the high country on the Tenere but next time I think I’d like to have a go on a lighter bike , theirs endless riding down their when you start studying a map :woohoo:

Did you take the Crf or hire a bike off the trail tours ?

No took the red rocket and got even happier about buying it, you can come to a rock shelf and just gun it and its up and over it with ease. After riding similar stuff down Menaces way on the old tractor there really is no comparison between bikes. We rode up to Mt Pinibar where you blokes went a few years ago and apart from being rock all the way its a pretty simple run on a trail bike. Wasnt in love with some of the boulder strewn tracks off Pinibar though made me work too hard! One of Pollys boys even managed to totally split a rim which I have never seen before.

The ride up Mt Pinnabar was a challenge on the Tenere mainly because of the dust and sun combo we had :D but the rocks down their are something else !!!

How good is the view from the top though ??? :woohoo:
