Hi all,
I am looking at purchasing some comfortable, waterproof, breathable riding pants; over boot type.
Does anyone have any recommendations of what to buy? Or what I should steer clear of? I plan on doing some adv riding in them so they need to be comfortable for long hrs in the saddle and possible wet weather riding so they need to keep the water out.
Any help would be great.
Cheers,
LeftyJuly 9, 2012 at 11:21 pm #225779I have several pairs of acerbis overboot type and love them, if you want you can try them on but may have to be on stilts and stick a pillow up your shirt
July 9, 2012 at 11:21 pm #225780I know the ADV boys all rave about the KLIM pants
Steve can hook you up with some for sure or at least give you sound advice about the different types etcCheers
July 9, 2012 at 11:50 pm #225781I’ve got a pair of “Ixon” overboots. Good deep pockets and good protection too. Really comfy and warm with the zip in liner attached.
Hot days can be a bugger you can really sweat in them.
July 10, 2012 at 12:05 am #225782Hey Lefty, I can highly recommend the klim pants they are waterproof and comfy!!

July 10, 2012 at 12:35 pm #225778Hey Boulder, Do they have any protection (as in armor) in them?

Hey Boulder, thanks mate. That is a pretty good recommendation. Do you have the Traverse Pants?

July 11, 2012 at 1:28 am #225935i will agree with TB got thor ride over boot pants have found them good in the cold and the rain but have never done an adventer ride in them ? no good in summer(in singles) but they do have zipper vents but
July 11, 2012 at 2:34 pm #225936Haven’t tried any of them but I have heard that Klim make pants with pockets that go in your boots. So like normal MX pants but with pockets. Not sure about ventilation etc but might be worth checking.

LeftyI would have to say if it breaths it lets air in if lets air in it lets in. The Kilm jackets are bloody hot because they dont breath but are waterproof

July 11, 2012 at 10:55 pm #225952For what it’s worth, I have a pair of Scott Ridgelines that I have ridden in the rain and stayed dry. Pretty comfy. Have an inner liner that stops them from sticking to you and an elasticated bottom inner that is fastened around your boot between the top and second buckle that is sealed with velcro and press stud. Walked a knee deep crossing and they held up well, small amount of seeping, but think that was more the boots than pants!! Have had one off with them and only a small scuff mark, so pretty sturdy I reckon. Got them off eBay, BNWT from a bike shop in Melbourne. Two front pockets as well. In winter I have resorted to compression pants underneath and been toasty warm in -10 chill factor.

LeftyLefty I have the Traverse and they are a great adventure pant, the 4 vents work really well in the hot stuff. I use Thor overpants for trail riding and find they are less expensive, lighter and really good too. Its horses for coursers I suppose.

Like in the Simpson on the 990 for instance.
July 13, 2012 at 12:25 am #226015I have just done nearly 5000km up to cape York and back in the Klim Traverse suit. The pants are great , totally waterproof ( tested from Cooktown to Cairns!) the zip vents work really well too ( tested in the 32 degree heat of the tip !)
They are very tough material with leather panels on the inside of the legs.
Steve at Adventure Moto can hook you up
