At the end of a never ending maintenance chase the 4 hun’it is back in one piece :woohoo: but… :pinch: On its maiden test ride, after about an hour I finally ventured over 80 km/h up the high way only to find the back end, bike’s and mine, feeling very unsteady. Lots on bounce seemed to be coming from the swing arm?? Only happens above about 85km/h otherwise smooth as!
I reminds me of a dodgy rear end balance on the car.
On the last tinkering session I replaced the 40T sprocket that came on the bike with the stock 45T that came as a spare, and cut a link or 2 extra into the chain, the tensioners L & R are at 10 clicks each, chain looks to be straight as nothin else???
I lubed the axle and bearings with Castrol marine grease?? (the blue crap)
Also replace ‘A Set’ spoke with OEM replacement and refitted the rim-lock, tube & tyre thanks to the vids here
Any XR Guru’s lend some much needed advice??
    Much appreciated BW

How do i move this to tech help ??

Maybe your rimlock is throwing your rear wheel out of balance?

If the wheel is true (eg not buckled) and the tyre is seated correctly at all the way around both sides then I agree with Nato it will be wheel balance caused mostly by the rim lock. I know that Chicken’s back wheel almost skips from the ground around 100kph.
Take the wheel of complete and take it tyre and all to your local decent bike shop and ask them to balance it, makes a huge difference. If you do a bit of road stuff get the front done as well

Look after me they did, stuffed around for about 30 mins for me at the drop of a hat and at the end wouldn’t take a penny.
Amazing the difference a washer or two and a nut will make still bucking a little bit but heaps better.
Big thanks to Mud’n’Tar, will be back soon. B)
