April 24, 2009 at 10:38 am #130498No argument from me
I dont need the same quality tyre as chad reed , I just want grip and durability, not that big of an ask is it,If you own a KTM 300 dont answer this thread as you dont have the power to know what we are on about, isnt that right menace;)
April 24, 2009 at 11:24 am #130500my 300 came with a metzeler “6 day extreme” tyre. it was down to about 5-6mm of tread, so with its first service i got them to slap on a michy M12.
i will pick it up from the dealer on monday. (service, re-jet, new tyre, dyno for $290.40)……then its goin straight to Krooztune to get my rear shocker set, for my generous size;)
(another $680…..f**ken)then ill see how fast it will shred the M12. 👿
ummmm, so yeah,
1 tyre x 385kms(including run-in) = rooted….
no power in that equasion, hey boono:P
i bet ya a bottle of green ginger boony(ya drunk) that my KTM…
A) puts out more BHP…
would out-go/handle/brake/roost

AnonymousIMO – Fortune tyres = CRAP
April 24, 2009 at 11:39 am #130488Boony Tyres are a very contentious subject, different tyres perform differently on different bikes and in different conditions, Personal preference is always an issue. TB has said he didnt like the rear retreads, thats his opinion and he is entitled to it. My 38 years of riding and racing I would have to say Metzeler MC5 rear MC4 front awsome tyre combo and my all time favorite setup,My RMX still has a set of them on it. Pirelli tyres are good, some bridgestone and Dunlop 752 are good. Michellin are Ok not as good as People pretend them to be(my opinion only)Motoz are crap, kenda are good for the first ride as soon as the knobs are rounded over throw em away. I started using Recross retreads years ago and really liked them, the shop I bought them from (xrsrus)closed down so I became an agent for MXretreads, My honest opinion on these is they aint no Metzeler, But then again I aint no Chad Reed either,I expect a tyre that I can get at least 10 good rides out of,when its rooted I replace it,I dont say Oh ive just paid $139 for this I could get another couple of rides out of it.Ive got 8 bikes in the shed and it costs a bit to keep tyres up to them, the retreads help keep my costs down, all of the cases I get are quality brands not cheap rubbish. I have plenty of repeat customers and the only person who has shown his dislike for them is TB his opinion only,( I saw the tyre and I understand his concern, but remember he is on a worked XR6fitty and he doesnt mind spinning it up:woohoo:) others have raved about them, and for $75 bucks each, well there is enough change left over for a case of piss. I have found that the tread pattern is particularly suited to loam and sandy conditions,Mud goes well also. Anyway thats my 4c worth

April 24, 2009 at 11:48 am #130537Just one thing but Ollie, you sell them, maybe not for any great profit I know but I dont think that allows you to be completely neutral, they are cheap thats why people buy them and as far as grip goes loamy, most tyres grip, muddy when I used it was the Watagans Christmas Party (it was brand new) and it definitely was no S12 Michelin, hard pack dry grip was ok but wore out to fast compared to others I use on my 650 as you put it!
But an option for people for sure

April 24, 2009 at 12:01 pm #130543what i found boony was just run more air presser so the tyre feels as hard with your hand as a normal tyre think i was up around 20psi and had no problems have only used it for one day but at mount conobalas orange it griped okay but made my gearing tall.think it will ware fast its soft but will put it back on eventualy
April 24, 2009 at 12:07 pm #130558whitey I`m a soft co@k anyway I run 16psi on all trails May get away with it ??Not one of them riders that chase the extra grip with pressures.

Ha ha ha I meet Ollie and the boys at the Watagans today and was chatting with them and I said to Gilli, how come you dont have retreads like Ollie (they seem to do all things the same) and he said they are sh*t and have no grip ha ha ha they are sh*t, and he said that because THEY ARE SH*T AND HAVE NO GRIP
Made my day, I thought if anyone would have backed your cause it would have been Gilli, bad luck old man
PS I rode the NX up that hill on the way to chicken’s will post the video later

April 25, 2009 at 10:21 am #130656As if you rode the NX up the Hill you couldnt even get the XR up:blink: I think your statement is SH*T,just like your Opinion on retreads is SH*T,you have just lost all credibility. Champo back me up. Gili next time your walkin:laugh:
