Okey Dokey hatto… if that is indeed your real name.

Common misconception with PDS KTMs is rider sag. From what you’ve given me you don’t have enough rider sag.

For PDS shocks you should look for 113-118mm of rider sag. If the spring is the correct weight for you, you’ll end up with about 38-42 static sag.

Go have a fiddle, then readjust your bikes pre-load and give me some figures.

REMEMBER PEEPS – wear your boots and helmet (and back pack and tool bag) and have at least half a tank when you check your sag. Bounce alot and take a few measurements to get an accurate reading.

    Rudy out.

    (mad)hatto

How many turns in from full out (e.g. 10 in of 26) are you on comp and reb on the front and back?

More importantly – what are you unhappy about with the suspension in its current clicker position.

Will get back to you with the setting soon

I am not unhappy with them (but prob not good enough to know any better)But have read alot about how much they change with small tweaks- Having a rough idea on where abouts I should be for a start hopefully helps me get it better.
As per previous posts, my handbook says, 15 clicks comp, 22 rebound (from hard)- rear, and 22 clicks (from hard), both front.
From memory mal(suttos) was 8c -12r (from soft)-rear and 12c-15r (from soft)- front.

    Cheers hatto

Not being an expert on this and there fore may sound real stupid, but i found with my bike the suspension worked real well for one type of ground surface but got real scary on another, where i am, we have roughly 3 kinds of terrain I ride on mostly and have found 3 settings for the clickers which made my riding feel a bit more conected with the dirt..instead of me connecting with the dirt.. using my bike now as a daily commute also, i use a totally different clicker position to the dirt riding ones. I now know what settings i want before i leave home, I adjust accordingly. is only a matter of a few clicks one way or the other. Does anyone else do this ? ( has taken a lot of experimenting to find what suited me best )

    OK hatto,

Lets assume you’ve gotten the sag thing rectified.

    My advice is two fold.

    1. Try each of the factory settings vs. Sutto’s setting and pick one you like. Make sure you pick the same loop to test on for consistency. I even suggest you time each of your loops – even if its just a wrist watch on the handle bars.

    2. Failing any love affair with any of those setting do this – count the total clicks for each adjustment front and back and put them in the middle. Now do the same loop and start making some decision. Its too soft in the front, if feels like the back end is squatting etc. Then start your adjustments TWO clicks at a time.

Steel some kids school exercise book and keep track – notes on what you do and don’t like about each adjustment, notes about your times.

Then tell me what you don’t like front and rear based on starting in the middle. We’ll probably end up near on the factory/Sutto setting you liked best, but at least then you can decide if you actually need to re-valve or upgrade with a kit.

Suspension’s a funny lover. You may be gaga for tall leggy blondes, but she does nothing for the next guy who prefers more hand holds in his woman. Same goes for suspension. You may ride someone bike and hate the set up, but the owner loves it and just to piss you off is faster than you with it.

    Good luck,
    ER
