I love being on holidays. I have six weeks off and plan on spending it having fun I will be in Fiji for 2 weeks the rest I plan on getting in some riding both MTB and moto. This week already Monday MTB ride, Tuesday MTB ride, Wednesday time for a moto ride. Decided to take the RMX up to Clarence in search of some new single track. It always surprises me just how much is up there and when I look at it on Google Earth there is so much there I have never covered.

Quickly got the RMX ready last night. I have a new set of tyres but after a couple of bourbons I was not in the mood to fit them. One last ride for the shagged rubber.

Surely this has one last ride in it.

Got up late and meandered up to Clarence. I parked in at the Pines as I had no plan on covering all the well travels trails leading in to here. I headed out along the power line trail looking for some single that may lead off here to the South as I don’t think I’ve been out that side before. I went down a few trails but come across nothing of promise. I kept heading out till I ended up at 10 steps on the Beecroft track and still nothing.

Feeling a bit depressed I dropped down 10 steps onto the Wolgan Valley Road and decided to have a go getting up a trail 2 Banger lead me and Galey down last time we were up there. This is a rocking single track with a few tricky rock climbs. I got up most but had a bit of a struggle on one rock climb eventually barging my why to the top.

Now feeling good about myself I picked up the pace. As I did I went sailing past another single coming off this one. This got the better of me and I turned around to go have an explore, after all that’s what I come up here for.

This single quickly started to drop down into a valley, one I’d not been into before. Before I new it I was down in some of this stuff.

The trail lead down through the gulley crossing it on a number of occasions. Around rocks through caves before the trail began to head back up hill.

A few tricky bit then I come to the crack. No wide handle bars or fat bastards are getting through here.

How good did the sound of my new FMF pipe sound resonating of the wall in here.

Out the other side and still heading up till I got to what I called the water fall. It’s about now I was wishing I fitted those new tyres.

After struggling up the water fall I kept going up till I hit the top of the ridge. I had no idea where I was but looking at the GPS I was heading in the direction of Lidsdale.

Trail headed down again into another valley, still an awesome tight single with a bit of trials riding over rocks. No more photos as I was just lovin riding.

This valley and a creek/swamp in the valley floor. The trail went across the swamp. I found a line that was only about 10 metres to the other side. Second gear and just pinned the old RMX. She was bogging in the swamp but eventually screaming her way to the other side with mud fly in ever direction.

Once through the swamp the single wound its way to a fire tail which come out behind Angus Place. I turned and followed the fire trail back in the opposite direction away from Angus Place where it again hooked up to another sweet single. This one was a nice loamy single that wound its way back up the mountain eventually coming back out at Blackfellow Hands Trail, a good thing to because it was now getting late and I was running out of daylight. A quick run back to the car happy that even after all the years I have ridden up here new trail like this can still be found.

    Nice one Scotty. :)

That track is the Babylon Track I believe. Not been there myself but there is only 2 that I know in the area. The other one is hard going too.

If you’re liking the harder stuff I’ll have to take you over the road for a heart (and arm) pumping session. :woohoo:

Yeah, nice looking trails. I’ve only been in from Zig Zag end and we didn’t do too many singles but the trails out there were awesome. I’d be keen to go back for a ride.

This was a grade 4 hill climb before the trail cutter lads cleaned it up, as well as a few other areas. Nice blokes.
Hook up with Mal5.1 and get the best singles sorted Scotty. Sweet pics.
