    I’ve got a bit if a dilemma

    Should I buy a 11 model wr 450 for 9000 inc gst
Thats $8270 when i claim the gst (it will be chasing chooks so it is a business tool )

Or should i ride my old rag and let them get the bugs out of the fuel injected yamaha (should already be done ? YZ should have done that )
What is interchangeable between an 04 and a 11?
How much better would an 11 be than my 04 ?

Or should i buy another brand ie husaberg fuel injected
I couldn’t buy an orange one that just wouldn’t sit right it would have to be a blue ktm

How much are new husabergs worth

I’m not buying a yellow one or a red one
and i’m not sure about some of the other euro bikes ……….how much are they ??

    Hmmm decisions , decisions

Sounds like a good deal Bob, and would be the sensible decision, sounds like you might be bored with buying the same bike and are straying.

I was going to replace my husky 2T with the same but couldnt be bothered buying the same bike evan though it was good.

Can the new yami fuel injection run battery less?

    $9000 for a 11 is a good price mate
Dont think you would be putting much from your 04 onto a 11 , complete different bike
heaps better, you still wont be able to touch the ground tho

Bob is that price for brand new? If so its pretty good.

I went from 04 to 09(07,11) My take on the change

04 were pretty aggressive 09 is no different once rejetted, piped and decorked

04 had a pretty big tank alot bigger than 07-11 fuel range can be pretty ordinary out of the standard tank if your on it like 70km

Alot of parts are interchangeable but there are some that are not.

Imo 11 is not that much greater than an 04 I found it harder to set the alloy frame bike up over the steel frame.

If you have the cash burning a hole in your pocket I’d say go for the 11 you won’t be disappointed but allow a bit for a pipe and rejet they are shit stock. At the moment the dealers want ridiculous prices for the FI 2012 WR they can keep them for now.

    Forks are different
Swingarm is different but I think all the linkages are the same
There is a slight different ratio somewhere in the gearbox from memory as 04 ran 14/50 gearing and alloy frames run 13/50 for the same result.
Motor is pretty much the same

No there isn’t any cash on fire in my pocket

    My motor isn’t very old
and is yz specs at the moment(for better or worse ??)
A new bike would be good but if it wasn’t a lot different …..maybe not bother ??

Stick with it for 12 months Bob, check if the Yamaha fuel injection is reliable and wait while Yamaha pull their head out of their arse price wise. My thoughts

If you’re anal about bike weight Bob this will hurt, 129kg according to Yamaha’s own specs. Thats with 7 litres of fuel. Your current WR will be a fair bit lighter than that even though it carries more fuel. 129kg will surely make the new WR the heaviest 450 on the market.

It will also be interesting to see what the race teams do, I think most enduro teams at the moment are running the YZ. We’ll have to wait and see if they go for the WR or stick with the lighter YZ.

A lesson learnt last weekend is claimed bike weights mean nothing Scotty. We used Leftys digital race car scales and weighed all the bikes there and the results in my opinion arent even close to what they are printed as.

Actually 129 kilos with 7 litres of fuel is OK Spuds 06? steel frame was 130 neat full of fuel. Even if you add 4 litres of fue to the 2012 WR it would only be 131 odd kilos and Lefty 450 weighed 129 full of fuel

I’m with you when it comes to being sceptical about claimed weights. Its stands to figure than if Yamaha are claiming 129kg it could weigh even more.
