How many times have you mentioned to some body that you ride dirt bikes and they look at you like you just beheaded their kitten.
Recently a woman said to me that dirt bikers destroy the environment now my first thought was to tell her to, well you know.

Shane talked about mud puddles in the Watagans thread and I thought I will google an image for my response and I found these

Have a go at the pictures of those &*%* head, dumb %^#*, rednecks destroying the forest, has anyone seen a motorbike make trenches like that? (XR650 dont count)

Mick this is the 2nd thing to rev me today

Where I come from driving on roads like that can incur fines of thousands of dollars per axle. I have a 4wd so I guess I’m twice as bad as everyone. I’ve gone out in the wet but not into bog holes like that.

Having said that there are some monster ruts caused by bikes that run directly downhill, I can only imagine the erosion caused by those when it rains. Yes the ‘fourbies’ cause more damage I agree, I’ve seen bogans in deeper holes than them thar ones! Luckily being on bikes we have the opportunity to cut our own single tracks and can get away from such billy goats…how norty is that!

Trouble is, too many people have too much money and time on their hands these days and as a result, we see the damage cause depicted in the above photos.

Now that you;ve said that and given the forecast for the weekend…is the Watagans ride now cancelled? (Nah I’m taking the p1ss on that last bit!)

Here’s my proof,…. that creek crossing wasn’t like that the week before and I fell for the trap.

That’s far more carnage than what my big red ditch witch can cause.
I rode the same track on the weekend that I had lead 19 bikes along, the week before and you cannot see any difference in the trail.

Took me and a mate a good while to pull his Husky out of a bog hole that didn’t look anywhere near as bad as that one did on approach, when he went into it I thought, “Oh dear.” especially after I hit the opposite side of another one earlier and wrecked a brand new helmet. That was down the Maculata Rd end…somewhere

It’s just worth remembering that tarring all 4WD’ers with the same brush is the same as Joe Public tarring all dirtbikers with the same brush. There’s dickheads in all walks of life.. ;)
I know you’re not doing that, but just sayin’ B)

Guilty as charged. Untill recently I owned two 4x4s,I only own a Nissan Patrol now though and I used to do the weekend warrior thing on a regular basis.I never pulled capers like getting deliberatly bogged though and making monumental bog holes.
I suppose everyone has to use the bush responsibly or we will have the same situation that is happening in the US with all the forests etc being closed to all recreational vehicles.

Knopey has hit the nail on the head, it only takes and irresponsible few to tarnish the reputation of the rest.

I’ve seen some pretty big holes in the Watagan’s recently, I got completed soaked going though an ‘innocent’ looking one that ended up being almost a metre deep!

What happened to the leach, I mean it would have been a mighty sick leach after being attached to you, it would end up a FAT, lazy, loud, leach on a orange s*#tbox with no ability at all.

    Poor leach I say
