it went good mr blue, it surely cracks harder off the bottom end. i didnt get to open it up much as the tracks were rutted, tight and whooped out to buggery but on the few gnarly hills it pulled like a teenage geek:laugh:

choppa and i got creamed by a couple of young blokes i know that we ran into at the carpark. they hammered us all day!!!
we did 50kms and we were both rooted.
i went over the bars into a foot deep bog and got soaked head to toe in mud. when i stood up my goggles were half full with water:laugh:
it was karma getting me for putting the hex on boony:P :P

a sh!t days riding it was, but fun all the same;)

Just as I thought then. Thanks Bruce!
I have been seeing these shorties on ebay but have refrained due to the fact I have only ridden my 300 twice…
I think they have ‘enough’ bottom end as it is in my early evaluations. The standard pipe/silencer power curve is very usable, the SXS pipe I put on for yesterdays ride has ‘agro’ed’ the spread a bit and am skeptical whether it’s ‘better’. Snappy yes, more tiring yes. Will borrow an FMF shorty and do some pipe swapping and some combinations to see what I like best. I’m a very objective person and am the first to say some mods I’ve done were worse than before, even if they cost me big money.

Axel, if the bottom end response is to “tiring” as in the snap gets away from you (you’d hate my YZ, it stands on the rear wheel off idle) but like the rest of the power characteristics with the shorty, you can raise the needle a notch (lower the clip) fattening the jetting in the 0-1/4 throttle range and making it a little “doughier”, or you can retard the timing which robs the advance down low and gives better burn up high.

Heaps of tricks you can use to “tweak’ and tune.

gee bruce reckon i should bring the wizard down and get you to do a tune, reckon it will be on the cards when i get the vforce…..
still really having trouble warranting it..

keep that top end fresh and it’s on fire, bow has had a couple of rides lately and is amazed at what it is capable of……
he also reckoned it was way too hard chasing it yesterday though the s/t …..

with the 125cc bikes because you (in particular bud) are on the pipe so much the thinnish rings wear quickly and the power dropoff happens real quick, we used to run 10-15 hours on a set of rings tops in the first watercoolers.
The V3 gave mine a heaps crisper response down low, Coley hated it, and I went back to boyeson inserts for a while, but am back on the V3s with a fattish needle and neutral timing. Piss easy to do, and you’re welcome to come and see how easy it is bud, get a few needles and low speed (pilot) jets and play, you can also cheat with flost levels a little too, then you can add a3-10mm spacer at the front of the pipe to gain a bit more down low, don’t know if I’m going that far as mine pulled like a train today up to the lookout 3rd/4th gear off pipe.
have you looked in the Boyeson reed cages, cause to be honest I think the V3s make mine a little flat up high.

BTW you blokes did a great job clearing, could see where a few bikes had been recently and was still skatey with the 952 in parts.
