I don’t want to state the obvious there champ, but I will. As for your bash plate splitting along the LHS weld and after giving you a hand to lift the Tenere after a little incident. There is a bit of tonnage involved when it hits the ground eh! If you know what I mean………….Cheers,
Left OneHit the ground lefty?? Tell us more mate

It fell off the stand about 3 to 4 weeks ago when I had he forks out, just a tip to the side onto the wooden deck. I straightened it up onto the bash plate and left it there until I got the forks back. Lefty came around and helped me lift it onto the lift stand. I don’t know how you would know it weighs much Lefty cause we each had hold of the bars and I saw when I lifted it up your feet were of the ground and you were hanging like a dead weight   And I might add not happy about being up that high as the photo shows

I thought I would weight all my gear and see just how much weight the pig would have to carry!
Right pannier = 7kg
left pannier = 7kg
Top bag = 6kg
Food tube = 3kg
water = 2kg
spare fuel =4.5kg
Back pac = 7.3 kg
Bum bag.5kg
Fuel in tank =29.7kg
Me =110kg All muscle too!!
Total 180 kg
No wonder the frames take a hammering!!
Would be interested to know what some of you guys weight fully loaded??Just checked the load rating of the rear 606 tyre = 325kg
180kg plus riding gear (say 10kg) plus bike (say 170kg) = 360kg
The back tyre is grossly overloaded when you are doing wheelies up the road Boulder

October 1, 2011 at 8:18 pm #209966I think he’s running an E09, with all the weight and power of the might DR, we could both be in trouble!

Back when I was a young apprentice my family went out to do the Birdsville track etc, leaving me at home to milk the cows. The day they were supposed to arrive home came and went. Seven days later Birdsville police rang to say they were safe, but stuck on a sand dune with the whole area flooded, and wouldn’t be moving for another week. They ran out of food etc. a couple of times in between ariel food drops, but eventually made it home about two and a half weeks later than planned.
My boss, though understanding, was very pissed off in general.Unfortunately Kath knows this story all to well, as I was working for her Dad at the time. Therefore my already sketchy leave pass has been officialy revoked. Apparantely neither her or the bank manager could cope with the above mentioned situation, however unlikely.
I therefore withdraw from this ride with a heavy heart. I wish you all the best, apoligies to all involved.
Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.Just as a quick aside, Just got back from AORC round at Salisbury where I took Kath to sweet talk her into letting me go on the ride. Failed miserably. Wettest race meet I have ever imagined.
Over twenty of the pro and experts could not complete the parade lap, with the sweeps even having to help some of the biggest names in the sport!! Getting out was acheived with nearly every vehicle being pulled by either Protty’s troopy or the landowners 100 hp 4wd tractor. This was a very bad weekend to put my case to the bride, completely backfired on me! [ George got 3rd in J3!! ]All the best,
Moose
