Myself and Tryhard are having a crack at the Simpson Desert. The route and time limits aren’t set in stone. Just ride as safe as we can for nine or ten days.

Setup for shakedown ride last weekend

No rider limit Nick and I know you would be prepared.

Unfortunately I’m not the best at getting the message out that a ride is on. We expect to be in Birdsville this Sunday 23 April and you are more than welcome to come along.

Lefty, 50lt of fuel and 10lt of water. Capable of carrying 62lt of fuel depending on the route

    lotsa

    Thanks Lotsa :)

It’s about 1800km from my place to Birdsvile which would mean leaving this Thursday to get their and have Saturday to get ready. It’s a possibility that I could get sorted in 4 days but I’ll let you know before Tuesday if it’s going to work out.

    Looking at Waynes spot tracker

Wayne and Joe left Birdsville this arvo at 2.00pm and arrived at Poeppels Corner in the Simpson Desert about 7pm this evening. :woohoo:
So they are ahead of schedule as they weren’t supposed to be leaving Birdsville till Monday morning.

They left the Central Coast early Sat. morning so the car trip to Birdsville has been a quick one and not without some problems – 2 broken bike tie down straps and a flat tyre after running over a skippy carcass :S

Making hay while the sun was shining hey ???

Nothing like an early start to help out the timeframe for a ride ;)
They seem to be making good progress in the sand so far, looking at the satellite pic it is like corduroy out there :woohoo:

Nice work. they were not sure if they would get to Birdsville in 2 days. Must have left early and travelled on some private roads. Well done.

I’m a bit late but have a great ride gents.

I’ll be watching the RR with great interest. It’s definately a ride I’d like to do one day.

Hope it all goes well with no injuries or major incidents.

The boys are flying, they made short work of the Simpson and are now tackling the Hay track. Good going for three and a half days!!

The boys arrived back into Birdsville this arvo and headed straight to the bakery for lunch after spending 2 1/2 days doing Alice Springs to Birdsville via the Hay River track.

Well done :woohoo: Not bad travelling some 2000km’s in five days in that country

They are both Knackered and are having beers and fried chicken at the bakery tonight, then a well earned rest.

A few more days travelling back in the car and we should have a report as long as they keep away from the roos. They hit one dead centre on the bonnet on the way up there and luckily no major damage to the car.
