I’ve pulled up a little sore today but still :)

Great pics and vids so far but more please :woohoo:

Can’t wait to see more of the action.

I need to jog my memory about the ride. Me, Boony, STM and Nickj sat up till stumps on Saturday night and the memory is a little foggy

    Single Track Heaven it was..

What can be said that hasn’t already been said.. Just an amazing Old Bulls weekend in what had to have been one of the most challenging times I spent on a bike or…………….Off..

A HUGE Thanks to STM for the effort put into organizing this weekend.. Nothing was missed and everything was perfect.. Riding, food, lodging, entertainment and of course the Old Bulls Spirit.. A fine example of a dedicated Old Bull..

A HUGE Thanks to Nickj for assisting STM and his effort put into organizing this weekend.. Nick has shown himself to be a kind individual who always raises his hand first whenever there is a call of arms even when he is not sure he can succeed.. Another fine example of a dedicated Old Bull..

Other thanks in no particular order.

STM’s Dad – Support for various parts of the weekend..

Chicken – for helping me in dire need on Friday desperately trying to get over a dual log hop.

T-Driver – Super Sweep and sticking by me when the fatigue set in near the end of the morning loop.

Moose – Super Sweep and sticking by me and giving encouragement when I shit me pants looking down two step.

Booney – for the assistance on the stumbled hill climb near the bog hole area.

Bollocks – for the assistance on one of the many stuck log situations I had.

Aaron – for helping me over the rather large log and not trashing me bike getting it over, plus the impressive performance on bunny hopping your bike over it. Very cool…

Boulder – for the good conversation back at the camp over the 2 days..

All the boys who rode up Widow maker successful or not.. That was some impressive shit..

All the boys who helped un-stick my starter button.. Bloody mud and grit.

Everyone who stopped and asked if I was OK each time I was seen picking me DRZ off the ground on the morning loop.

ALL The Logs in the forest – for showing me that I suck bad at them and making me intimate with the Coffs Harbour dirt/mud!!!

Anyone else I managed to miss.. The Old Bulls Spirit Lives!!

    My GPS Stats

    I drove a total of 13 and a 1/4 hours completing 1142k round trip

    My Weekend

I knew the weekend was going to big but I had no idea how big.. I left home Friday morning at 4:30am and arrived around noon to be welcomed by the Darlington Beach staff.. I soon was stuck into setting camp up and anxiously awaited the Friday avo ride.. Before long Boulder showed up and setup as well.. Then STM and Nickj rolled up for a short chat before the avo ride brief..

The Friday avo ride was called a warm up ride.. It was warm all right.. I had issues with logs which was to be my down fall all weekend (pun intended).. 😆 I managed to stay upright except for a log crossing and towards the end of the ride I cross rutted and went down.. Cross rutting in the greasy areas was also to work against me come Saturday morning. It was a wild ride and had everything in it.. I felt I did pretty good and thought I should go OK for Saturdays big event. Nick and Scotty gave lots of encouragement on me performance which meant a lot.. Thanks fellas………

Friday night was a great time at the pub chatting, eating and catching up with some Old Old Bulls as well as putting faces to names of other Old Bulls I’ve yet to meet.. It was good to catch up and see all the Tamworth boys, Strucky and the other Wauhopians I met at the Poker run as well as the Central Coasters…

I called it early that night and felt rest was the path to follow for the big day to come..

Saturday morning was fairly smooth going and found my way along with Boulder to get ready for the riders brief and the fun to begin.. I started out with Nickj for the morning loop and in no time we were roaring through the forest.. The first 30 minutes I thought I rode pretty good keeping up with the pace.. After the kangaroo/RC-Honda incident the morning began to fall apart.. Logs logs and more logs.. I think I made it over only 1 of the logs we came across without incident.. Every other one I met the ground.. Cross rutting was to fill the gaps in between logs.. Every greasy area we hit that had more than one rut I think I lost it (except for water crossings.. No worries there..) I lost count after 5 or 6.. :P By the end of the morning ride fatigue was starting to set in, not so much from riding, but from picking me DRZ up.. :silly: :P

The worst fall I had Mick happened to be right there with the camera waiting at the ready and I provided a great Kodak moment.. Only problem was the bike was on top of me and crushing my lower left leg.. I couldn’t move and called out for Mick.. Help help I think I yelled then as he approached I begged him to get bike off me as the pain got harsher.. I wouldn’t know just how sore it would be until waking up Monday morning.. :pinch: I was glad when it came time to hit the pub for food, drinks and some rest.. Can I make it through the rest of the day??? Hmmmmmmm……

After a good feed and some rest we got ready for the afternoon loop.. This time with STM in the lead.. All the talk around the lunch table from the other group seemed to indicate it was going to be a much harder loop than the morning.. I approached the afternoon with much more caution.. I actually managed to stay upright the whole loop except for the dual log hop at the very beginning of the loop.. B) :)

Surprisingly I rode better.. I think I spent the morning trying to keep up with the other riders and trying to ride above my ability.. I know everyone always says it is not a race but I suppose I didn’t want to be left behind..

The scariest moment for me was the down hill STM calls two step..  It was the scariest thing I have ever done on two wheels.. I came close to not continuing as I was that scared.. With some encouragement from Moose and Strucky I went for it and shit my pants down the first step.. :pinch: It flattened out and I was glad it was over only to find a few meters up the trail another vertical drop, number two of the two step.. :S I will never forget Moose walking over to the edge and saying “No worries Krusty it isn’t nearly as bad as the first” Oh really? I don’t think I have room for any more crap in my pants.. ;) Once again I just went for it and down I went, not down as in off the bike but down the hill.. I made it and looked back and could not believe it.. Scary Scary Scary…

There were some tense moments but I managed them better than the morning.. I really enjoyed all the flowy tracks and mini ups and downs (short hills).. The ride came to an end and we ended up at a picnic area for some home brew and snacks.. Some chatting and the likes and we were on our way back to camp.. The beach ride was cool and seeing all those bikes screaming onwards was a sight to see.. I was so looking forward to a HOT shower..

It took me some time to get going but once I had me shower I was feeling a bit better.. I was tired and sore.. In fact I had no idea how sore I was until Monday morning.. I woke up with every muscle in my body aching except for me pecker.. :P

The Saturday evening festivities was a fun and interesting time.. I stayed off the alcohol and mingled about.. After all the Old Bull business, auctions, rossi impersonations, thanks, charity talk and reminiscing of the day I soon disappeared into the darkness and crashed for the last time onto a soft mattress..

Sunday morning was a slow moving morning.. I was up around 6:30am and it took me the next 3 hours to eat and pack up.. I was on the road by 9:30am or so.. I was stiff and not looking forward to sitting in a car for the next 7 hours.. :S

    A few highlights

Mick pulling a kick ass wheel stand for a fairly long distance and even taking it around a corner.. Cool stuff mate!! :woohoo:

Watching Aaron climb the widow maker 3 times!! the Yammy just kept going chug chug chug.. :)

Watching Bollocks have a go at the widow maker!! You have bigger balls than me!!!

STM trying to dance with his bike 1/2 way the widow maker..then have another go and do it like a pro!!

Observing just how well the corner man system works.. Superb job by everyone..

Bollocks do the Auctions as well as the sheep report..

Factory Phil and his Rossi impersonation.. I have never seen the real Rossi speak but man that dude was funny!!! Can’t wait to see the video!!

Ya know each time I attend an Old Bulls event I’m always amazed and each time it never really is apparent just how much goes into organizing one of these until you see it with your own eyes.. I had a great weekend and thankful to be a part of it all..

I look forward to the next one……………. :woohoo:

Thanks to STM and NickJ for organising a really great weekend.
This was my first ride with the NSW old bulls and not knowing what to expect I started out nervously.
The pressure of not being good enough and slowing the group down etc etc was weighing heavy, but after an encouraging talk to NickJ on sweep on Friday helped me to relax and not worry so much. There was always someone to help out in the tricky areas it was fantastic. Thanks to Mick and Moose for sharing the cabin and creeping home Sat night, I didnt hear a thing.
    Thanks to all

Got back to a cloudy but warm Sunshine coast after an early departure time from the camp site(looked all quiet in Boonys cabin as we went past :P )started to clean things up and found it bloody hard to get that Coffs dirt off the bike :( but after a while it started to clean up, lucky my bike is far from showroom condition so it did’nt quite matter as much  Tom on the other hand looks like he’s out in the shed for a while 😆 .
As everyone has said in their posts STM and Nickj did a superb job in keeping 40 blokes entertained with excellent riding, organizing, and socializing with some great blokes ;) ;)
It will be too long to wait till next year for another ride with the Old Bulls so might have to find something else as well :P
The whole Qld group had way too much to drink on Friday night and were late for the briefing at 8am in the morning :silly: the heads did’nt feel right for at least 2 hours into the ride :silly: Scott put a great loop for us and with the conditions bieng perfect, you could’nt help but enjoy them, luckily by the time we got to the widowmaker I was feeling good 😆
the afternoon loop was just as good with drying conditions we smashed the loop in good time with Nickj setting a good pace ;)
Hope RCHonda has a quick recovery from what sounded like a real bad incident.
Highlights for me were obviously the riding ,the company , Factory Phil’s Rossi impression on Saturday night had me cracked up    ,Crash’s determination to get up the Widowmaker after 4 attempt’s (I think) ;) ,Bollock’s doing the auction on Sat night ;) ;) but overall a great weekend meeting some great people ;) Thanks everyone
