Yesterday saw us, out at the HVMCC track setting out a sprint track for today’s sprints. The track we laid out was gunna be pretty good and was dryer than I expected ,considering it flooded here last week,, but due to overnight rain, the whole scheme of things was changed, with the track really wet to say the least.
I was to sweep both the senior and junior runs on The XR and Moose fronted up on his 1980’s IT175 to sweep as well.
It was decided we would send the seniors out on the track first for a sighting lap so they could cut a line, before sending the juniors out.
As I was the last sweep rider, 50 or more bikes had gone ahead of me and it was just like riding in rutt riddled porridge, the XR probably wasn’t the best bike for the conditions and I was getting arm pump and I was paddling a fair bit too. Although the track wasn’t too good at this stage, it had potential to be a awesome track by the middle of the day. I got out of the bush unscathed but knackered (the track was probably a 8 km loop) only to see them send the Juniors off, so I had to follow them around as sweep. How do kids get 65cc bikes so bogged??? I had just finished getting one kid on his way again when ,the heavens opened up. It absolutely bucketed down, no sooner did the deluge start, there was 6 inches of water gushing across and down the trails. I was soaked to the core and when I finally got back to the pits I was very pleased that they had decided to abandon the meeting. It was gunna be a long day for Mick and Moose if they hadn’t.
Sorry no Photos as like I said it was pithing down.
