I was asked to lead a ride on Xmas eve.
Unfortunately I had to work, but after some thought and the conditions being what they were :woohoo: thought again.
Decided to take a half day annual leave.
Waited at the start point for a while, thinking I’d wasted a 1/2 day A/L
But then the boys arrived in a convoy. :woohoo:
I thought I was only leading a couple through our local area but we ended up with 9 of us.
Bloody secret squirrels
Once the lads were geared up we head for the singles :woohoo:
Did Arcadia and then crossed the main road and hit our newer singles.
Like lambs to a slaughter, we headed for the Gully Track.
Well I showed them all.
How not to do it.:silly: :silly:
First attempt had me with the chain off the back sprocket. (thanks Justo for helping me out)
Second attempt had me flipping the big girl.
Well by then I’d almost had enough but perservered and struggled to the top.
Dripping with sweat and forarms like baloons, walked back down to vantage point to watch the other boys :woohoo: :woohoo:
I think about half the crew came up and the others took the chicken track. (maybe its the chicken track for me next time)   :pinch:
I’ve never had so much trouble in the past. I don’t work well under pressure.
Anyway it was single after single all the way out to Awaba. Some new singles will be cut in better now, thanks fella’s. Hope ya’s enjoyed them.
Unfortunately I had to pull the pin at the quarry and almost stuffed up the hill when I left the boys. :silly:
Hope ya’s had a good day after I left ya’s.
Need to know who went up Amazon??????
Rode the tracks back to work just in time for chicken and prawns and then knocked off early/cool.
Back at the starting point I saw everybody’s cars were still there so I was off in hope to meet them on the return trip.
Took another trip out to the tunnel and heard some bikes on the other side of the haul road.
From the direction they were travelling I knew of only one other way of getting accross.
headed to the said junction and waited, but no joy.
Decided to abort my mission and rode home via the power line track :woohoo:
The boys did arrive back at the cars late and I went down to greet them.
Poor buggers had got lost (bloody easy up this way) and had to ride the black top back.
Some pics to come
Thankyou gentlemen
When all was said and done, I probably could of and should of stuck with ya’s
Cheers

Dan showing who’s boss on the 500  :woohoo:
With a little help (Damn 500’s are just too torquey for this kind of riding) but we love it.
Then theres the youth, Sam, on a 250
Thats what we had in plan when we made the track. I still can’t do it as sweet as Sam did. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Head down and giving the little 250 a go.
Thanks to all the boys that turned up
My eyes were red when I got to work.
Of course they all thought I’d been on the drink the night before.
Ha Ha Ha, I was out with no goggles in wet rainy conditions riding some of the best singles I know.
Cheers
MurphDecember 27, 2013 at 8:15 am #252782Sorry for keeping the names to a minimal

Good crew though.
Would be honoured to ride with them again.
Maybe next time I will not be so gumby.
Or maybe I will. :silly:
Cheers

December 27, 2013 at 1:10 pm #252778Well the pace was too fast to get too much video especially as I swept the first half of the ride.
It was all I could do to keep up.
So the vids I got were from when I was leading. I had to be early to the top
I absolutely love riding in those conditions, no dust and just the right amount of mud. :woohoo:
On a mobile so go to http://www.youtube.com/user/youbucktube for the video Fun in the Watties.
Thanks to the boys for a very entertaining day. :woohoo:
And thanks Murph for leading us out to the quarry. We found the singles to get back but ran out of time to do them.
Adam.
December 27, 2013 at 6:29 pm #252798Yeah thanks Murph for leading us out in the morning, was a great surprise to see you waiting for us.
Would of been better for us if you could of stayed and showed us the way back, but Adam eventually got us home.
Your neck of the woods would have to be my favourate place to ride, pity I don’t have a clue where I am going.
Glad I piked the Gully track earlier on as I needed my strength to conquer Amazon again :woohoo: :woohoo:
Just me,Sam,Dan and Glenno made it up.Was a tad difficult with slippery rocks ,but we all got there eventually.Poor old Glenno rooted his front brake on the way up,too many flips off his bike, and left the group at the top to go home.
Anytime your riding or want to take me on a secret squirrel ride let me know

Excellent conditions and a great crew… I was a little rusty as first ride after a few months and it certainly showed more than a few times…  :pinch:
