Whispers around the traps today is that a certain KTM rider decided to perform some work on his kato, while he had his air cleaner out he put a rag in the air box (as you do) and went about the important work, fitting a sticker kit:laugh: . After getting the sticker kit fitted he couldnt start the bike, after he cranked it till the battery was flat  , some charging or jump starting was involved and finally it started
, blowing blowing black smoke (thats fuel and no air, he should know of all people he should know) and running rough  , he checked the spark plug etc I am told  , then remembered the rag in the air box, miracle fix  !
See mate its between you and me, tempted as I was I didnt ring and tell single person you have my word.
Disclaimer:
If you are not the person that performed the above act this message is not for you

AnonymousI knew when I told you it would be on here, even after you said ‘don’t woory we’ll keep this between us’
The actual story was that I had removed the air filter more than a week ago to clean it. In the meantime the sticker kit was put on and I put the filter cover back on to see how it looked. Anyway, several days later I’m down onn the Central Coast and my mate decides he wants to go for a ride on Sunday, so we both fly back to the bay to get my bike (in a rush) as I need to be back on the coast by 6pm for a dinner.
When I get home I rushed around getting all my riding gear and tariler sorted and thought I’d try and start the bike, seeing as it had been started for about 15 seconds in the last 2 months. To it’s credit it started and actually ran for a few seconds before cutting out.
I wondered what had happened and tried again. It didn’t start and it was chuffing out smoke when being turned over. Forgetting I had left the rag in the airfilter inlet several days previosuly it took me about 5 minutes to figure out’s what was wrong! I would never normally never have a rag in there. The old one always stays on until the new one goes on.
Mechanics 101 – Don’t start your bike with a rag in the airfilter
