:laugh:No licence, no rego, no ride in State forests

Forests NSW is targeting unlicensed riders and unregistered motorbikes in the Central West following a recent spate of accidents, particularly in Newnes State east of Lithgow.Forests NSW regional manager, Gavin Jeffries, said Forests NSW was mounting a campaign in the region to ensure that motorbike riders ride responsibly and legally in State forests.
The campaign is part of a broader State-wide initiative where Forests NSW, along with other public land managers including National Parks and Wildlife Service and NSW Land and Property Management Authority, are working with the NSW police to inform motorbike riders, motorbike event organisers and motorbike shops and suppliers of their responsibilities.
As part of the campaign, Forests NSW is sending out information to the various recreational groups and related parties in the Central West and western Sydney detailing the legal requirements of riding a motorbike on public land, which includes State forest.
The letter will be accompanied by a full-colour brochure developed by the Northern NSW Illegal Motorcycle Communication and Education Group clearly stating what is required of riders.
“Motorbike riding on “formed” public roads in State forests is a legitimate recreation activity,” Mr Jeffries said.
“However, motorbike riders must understand that they are required by law to be registered and licensed to ride in a State forest.
“Unlicensed riders and unregistered motorbikes found illegally in a State forest can expect substantial fines and possible court action.
“We are asking riders to take notice of all signs and ride according to the conditions.
“Through a commonsense and lawful approach, a safe and enjoyable forest experience can be achieved for the many users of our wonderful forest resource.”

Four wheel driving and motor bike riding in NSW forestsOctober 27, 2010 at 4:42 am #189710:whistle: I thought they where always targeting these riders, anyway does this mean that the forestries people will be erecting up to date/recent signage directing us on their required do`s and dont`s in the forest as most of the old signs have fallen down, faded beyond readability or are just not there at all.I have only noticed those ridiculous hunting signs when I have ridden in our local forest and nothing related to the operating of a off road motorcycle in the forest, I have found huge gates closing what starts as a major forrest road, (you know one of them roads you dont turn off but they end up being a great bike trail). Those who ride in our area will know the weirs road, starts as a named major road and you do not turn off it but it winds down into a steep valley then along and over a creek then onto a dam. Why can we not use it if we are registered. I have absolutly zero issue with having to be regoed and liscenced and obeying the law when in these area but some signage will help deter the people on the dark side (unregoed/liscenced) from even unloading their bikes, to easy to say ( sorry mate I didnt know). The forestry people have a huge task ahead of them to police this and i really do wish them the best. They just need to be consistant with what they do.
Name and adddress withheld!

October 27, 2010 at 5:19 am #189711Here is another page worth the read.
http://dirtbike.mccofnsw.org.au/a/31.html
Note down the bottom right hand side of the page there is a list of the top 10 selling bikes in 2009.
October 27, 2010 at 5:26 am #189716As a motorcycle rider we are frowned upon even when you ride a registered bike and have a licence we pay a shitload in nsw to ride a bike and yet we are still loosing places to ride people don’t like us because we make noise and destroy the native fauna I ride when i can and its a big day by the time i get to a place to ride i have to travel an hour or more just to find a place to ride its all fun until some greenie starts to tell you what you can and can’t do we are like an endangered species we will surely fade away if we don’t change our ways how do we change the publics perception of bike riders? We must blame ourselves first it will end up in the Too hard basket. I use to ride out near Appin now they locked it up with gates and metal cables so the 4wd cowboys just broke it down are we always at fault or do the 4wd brigade have something to answer for too?I like the bush just as much as all the others who use it Mountain bikers, bushwalkers horse riders ect but knowone is complaing about them.Is it the noise factor or the idiot on the bike behaving badly
October 27, 2010 at 7:30 am #189718Good get them all sorry thats my view, on the other hand was it five Hondas in the top 10 best sellers in Australia and not a KTM

October 27, 2010 at 8:57 am #189721I agree whole heartedly with you Round eye.
One thing that I did notice in my research today was ,they mentioned seeds bought in by unwashed bikes. What about the seeds horses eat ,then shit out in our bush. Do we really want rye grass, oats and other introduced plants in the bush?? The damage hoofs do ,whether it by cattle or horses is equal if not worse than a trail bike can do. It shits me when I see dirt bikes getting the blame for erosion problems, when there are far worse culprits than us in the bush.

Also interesting to note, was that the top selling bike in OZ was the Kawasaki 250 Ninja which is made in India. :S

Four wheel driving and motor bike riding in NSW forestsYeah yeah heard this all before Dusty. Sending out info packs to shops and riding groups isn’t targeting the correct users or doing anything but wasting the publics money. All the shops and rider groups that thay are informing of ‘their responsibilities’ already are registered and licensed.
Newnes is to far gone to be giving out brochures. What they need to do with the unregistered, no helemet wearing bone heads is hit them where it gonna hurt them. Take a heap of 4WD police vehicles (and a bit arse trailer) and at least 4 police motor bikes (with good riders on them) and go up to the main camping and unloading areas or just cruise around the main roads (the bone heads never stray to far the main roads). When they see these bone heads, take the bike off them and give a huge fine. Then do it for a whole weekend (friday, saturday and sunday) and a few weekends in a row. Then don’t put it the local rag and on telly when they are ‘having a blizt’, just go up there and nail them.
While we’re on this subject. Can anyone tell me if the Forestry or NSW National Parks people have the authority to ask and view your licesne? I have no problems giving the info to the Police as they are the law. The other guys are land managers.
Rant over….
