One thing that I did notice in my research today was ,they mentioned seeds bought in by unwashed bikes. What about the seeds horses eat ,then shit out in our bush. Do we really want rye grass, oats and other introduced plants in the bush?? The damage hoofs do ,whether it by cattle or horses is equal if not worse than a trail bike can do. It shits me when I see dirt bikes getting the blame for erosion problems, when there are far worse culprits than us in the bush.

Mick are you forgeting the carnarge 1 4wd caused to a freshly graded hill i think 10 bikes hardly marked it while waiting for Puds to get to the top some hero in a 4wd has 3 goes at it and left some OBs stuned at the damage caused from his super digger mud tyres we could never cause damage as bad as that with 100 bikes piss the 4wd off i say
but i also have my own ride area

Hey Bill, I will never forget that carnage ol mate did to that trail that day, it is still cactus.100 trail bikes wouldn’t come close to what he did. I wont forget that carnage we caused to Puddles either, he was rooted at the top of that hill..LOL I was worried he was gunna have a heart attack.

Good get them all sorry thats my view, on the other hand was it five Hondas in the top 10 best sellers in Australia and not a KTM

Also interesting to note, was that the top selling bike in OZ was the Kawasaki 250 Ninja which is made in India. :S

Curry but not in a Hurry on a 250 Ninja.

Do postie bikes come into the equation? Because they would have to be the highest seller

The CT110x was the number one seller in 05, 06 ,07 and 08 according to a few sites I checked out.

Yeah yeah heard this all before Dusty. Sending out info packs to shops and riding groups isn’t targeting the correct users or doing anything but wasting the publics money. All the shops and rider groups that thay are informing of ‘their responsibilities’ already are registered and licensed.

Newnes is to far gone to be giving out brochures. What they need to do with the unregistered, no helemet wearing bone heads is hit them where it gonna hurt them. Take a heap of 4WD police vehicles (and a bit arse trailer) and at least 4 police motor bikes (with good riders on them) and go up to the main camping and unloading areas or just cruise around the main roads (the bone heads never stray to far the main roads). When they see these bone heads, take the bike off them and give a huge fine. Then do it for a whole weekend (friday, saturday and sunday) and a few weekends in a row. Then don’t put it the local rag and on telly when they are ‘having a blizt’, just go up there and nail them.

While we’re on this subject. Can anyone tell me if the Forestry or NSW National Parks people have the authority to ask and view your licesne? I have no problems giving the info to the Police as they are the law. The other guys are land managers.

    Rant over….[/quote]

    G’day Mal

Up in the Wattagans they have had Blitzs in the past. I think the last one was earlier this year. I had and Foresty worker who use to let me know but he is outa the loop these days so no info coming my way anymore. Not that it worried me cause I’ve always been rego’ed since I’ve been an adult. I would avoid the area though because if i got pulled over it would cut me ridin time dealin with it all. :)

I don’t think National Parks, Foresty or any other body/group other than cops can legally pull ya over. That’s why they have the cops with em on the so called Blitz.

IMO I think it’s a good thing as it targets the arseholes who give us legit riders a bad name.

Mal hit it spot on ;)
I have been avoiding this thread to limit a rantfest as this has been a big thorn in my side for many years (from 4×4 access as well as bikes)

The idea of publicising a so called “BLITZ” is ludicrous & an absolute waste of time
I have had numerous encounters in my own local residential area over the past 5 years regarding the illegal use of unrego`d bikes & quads, and apart from limiting the amount of time I ride there, it as had little or no affect on the amount of unrego`d idiots at all!!!!
I have had the police pull me over (not to check my rego or licence) but only to ask for info on the access to private land & asking how much the bikes use the area etc etc. Obviously some locals eventually get the craps with the noise & bikes tearing up & down the street to access the scrub, so they call the boys in blue to intervene

Just a few weeks ago I was mowing the lawn & one of the local ratbag teens was hooning round on an XR80, when all of a sudden he was confronted with a patrol car chasing him  (he fell off & was busted) :woohoo: He had no licence, no rego, NO HELMET and NO IDEA of how to behave either & was obviously fined!!! But then get this,,,,, no more than 3 days later he was back at it again & with a mate tagging along as well  IDIOT

    So my opinion is,,,,
With that sort of mentality about, what is an occasional advertised blitz in the forest gonna achieve???????????????
STUFF ALL,,,,, Hit `em hard, when they least expect it & HIT `EM OFTEN 😆 😆 😆
Then we may just stand half a chance at weeding them out a bit,,,,,,

    END OF RANT :P

When we use to ride at Appin we would see the coppers sometimes we always stopped to talk to them lastime was on newyears day it was stinking hot and they looked like they were buggered from the heat the sergant asked where we were going too and if we knew the other blokes getting around on unregoed bikes they have a job to do and all I could think of is what a job getting paid to ride a trailbike and chase ratbags. Before that we had seen the cops in the polair chopper and a ute and they rounded up everyone we had finished ridding that day and we were putting our bikes on the trailer they checked rego and it was all good except for some young kid on a kx125 he got a summons to go to court I think his fine was more than what the bike was worth

Whats the difference if we stop unregoed riders, there is still going to be a stigma attached to dirt bike riders whether legal or not, people still think we are a bunch of dickheads tearing up the bush they dont see any difference with us or the blokes on motocross bikes.

I dont give a shit what people think anyway

Its the same as Jetski’s nobody likes jetskis the fisherman the surfers and anyone with a boat but after a while you just take up the attitude who gives a rats if they don’t like you people don’t like to see others having fun and if its a reving 2stroke than its the noise they are making

I remember reading a greanies whinge over a certain shared track and how they were outraged at the “damage” to the surface caused by mountain bike use.
I reakon with this way of thinking there will be no approval of dirt bikes in any way, evan if we ride electric bikes.

But has any body seen the article on the riding area created in Perth government funded there creating loops for kids and family’s also to ride on public land legally?

Maybe if this is run successfully we can copy it over here.

    Was in last months ADB………..

PS Hatto and Rat reread my first post in this thread I only said there wasnt a KTM in THAT list of the 10 best sellers, more because that surprised me (I would have bet money if asked there would have been more then one) but there wasnt

You guys need to stop being so sensitive and reactive :P , are they that bad you have to go all defensive  the KTM’s I have ridden werent all bad (I have owned one well before you Dave ;) ) When you have spent sometime on all the bikes you bag Dave I will listen :P So calm down boys, its all good

    Back on topic,

I agree Eagle why advertise the blitz, spend a solid weekend at Newnes with spotters watching them drive in at the zig zag, radio through and when the bike is of the trailer nail them :)

Mal I dont think you have to show your licence to NWPS but rego I think you do (sounds silly but I think thats what I was told by a ranger in Yengo 2 years back)
