Well there was no dust, thats for sure.
Started off wet and it just got wetter
Thanks to Justo, Littswood, Al and Tim for coming out on such a miserable day.
Dust supression rain dance worked a little too well. :silly:
Started with a snotty single hill climb which had everybodys arms pumped by the time we got to the top, then onto the left side of Watagan Forest Drive for the usual singles. conditions were very wet but mostly the crew of 5 moved well. Prick Hill was done with only one of us needing a second attempt (Justo. ). Evidently there was some carnage on another hill but I missed all that. We ducked back out onto the main road for a while so as to miss what we call Dudes Hill and the mesh gullies. It would of taken too long to drag bikes through them and the crew were keen to conserve energy for the assault on Hitchcocks. Did a few more singles before dropping down Tunks with waterfalls all around us. :woohoo:
Some tar. was ridden before we hit Hitchys and after some bush bashing to get around some fallen trees (I actually bashed one tree pretty hard) A few dramas before getting to the first rock slab were overcome with some help from each other. I tried the slab first but gave the old 525 a bit too much and only made it a small way up before losing traction. Tim, Al and Justo also failed on their first attempts. Littswood had sussed out an alternative route but still needed assistance to get through. Tims second attempt was on the money so Al and I had to make it next go which we did. Justo had a couple more goes before taking the alternative. The hill kept coming with plenty of rock steps and slabs and plenty of waterfalls. Eventually made it to the top after way too much dragging bikes for my liking. Won’t mention any names but it was a certain newer model 450 and 300 that caused the most greif.
Tims bike was oozing milky oil so not long after he decided to ride the main rd back to the car
The remainder did some singles down Whitmans then down Zig Zag. Had a quick look at Woos Hill but opted for the easier option back to Maculata which had me a little lost at times. Passed a few crazy 4WD’s down at the bog holes. Rode some nice rocky sections back up to Watagans Forest Drive and back to the cars
Great day even if the weather was very grim
Put that bloody new rear tyre on before your next ride Littswood.
Pics to come later or tomorrow
Another thanks to everone for showing up in the pissing down rain.Cheers

That’s a cool pic of Justo going up hill with his back wheel getting some air.And your smiley thingo’s seem busted.March 19, 2011 at 4:41 pm #198365Great ride yesterday murph,
Considering the weather  It was great to get back to the traditional watagan mountain goat tracks!!!! They sure brought me unstuck plenty of times….Even with brand new tread on the rear tyre, think I still would of struggled:S ,
I’m pretty sure you and Al are older than me, but it felt the other way around yesterday…  …Think it’s time for me to spend more hrs on those mountain goat tracks to sharpen up the climbing skills:woohoo:
High lights in no particular…
– Riding new trails
– Riding familiar trails
– Al carving it up hitchy’s unassisted……..
– Tim and murph carving it up every where ( except when murph took on a small tree!)
– murphs rescue slings
– back up support from luke’s gps
– the rain stopping for 5mins once
– the down pour half way up hitchy’s ( as if it wasn’t hard enough as it was)
– no injuries:)All in all a good day out… thanks murph

March 19, 2011 at 7:11 pm #198366Great ride, thanks Murph and co. Really enjoyed it.
I’ve riden Hitchcocks Lane plenty of times: alway down.
Have thought to myself, it would be good to ride up Hitchcocks one day. Never expected it would be during a downpour with a rear tyre that was on it’s last ride!. Thanks to Murph and his handy tow ropes I was able to get up there, but it was a punish (to all).
Hats off to Al. At the bottom of Hitchcocks he was with us, then he got on his bike and he was gone. All the way up.
As Murph said we came across some 4×4 towards the end of the ride, glad I was not with them, I don’t know how they would get through some of those mud pits.
March 19, 2011 at 7:19 pm #198367Glad ya’s all enjoyed. :woohoo:
Good to see there are some like minded lunatics out there.
I was feeling a little sore today.
Haven’t looked into Tims bike problem yet, may post something up when I do though. Thanks for the heads up with the icons Twobanger, Dude has set me straight.
Cheers
