Anybody out there know if it is alright to use DOT 4 brake fluidinstead of the recommended DOT 5.1 for a KTM
The manual says not to use DOT 5 as it is a silicane based product and will damage the seals. I think I have used DOT 4 in the past but can’t remember
Any help would be much appreciated as I have to get on top of this brake issue before tomorrows ride
    Cheers

Me thinks he does not own a KTM
Or maybe he is not the “quick Dick” that he has made out :silly:

DOT 4 is okay. My manual(s) state that DOT 5.1 or DOT4 should be used.

Dick says relax Murph you old hippie

Dick would like to apologise for his absence but Dick sometimes has shit to do

Dick says Yes, as the others have said, you can run either DOT4 or DOT5.
Do not mix them though and certainly clean out the lines first!
The difference between the DOT ratings are simply their boiling point ranges.
About the only time I can think of needing a higher DOT rating is when you are racing. Brakes/Fluid tend to get very hot then.
