Quote:Hello All,
Being new to this OBT thing i have a question
I am going to Suttos this week to buy a couple of things and would like to take advantage of the sponsors discount
Is there somehing that i should be doing / saying to identifying myself, other than “i am a OBTs member”
Is there a secret hand shake? or something involving a goat :silly:
I was wondering because any joe Lunchbox could walk in off the street and say he was an OBT member and take advantage of the discount!the sponsors for this site are great and really do look after us, i think this has been discussed before but IMO maybe all members should be given a member number – which in turn they give to the sponsors when dealing with them. this would verify their membership and also protect our sponsors
cheers Hatto

And what in turn stops members from giving that number to their wooduck mates? Recently a member wanted to buy bulk tyres for his mates that weren’t members and didnt want to become members but they then turned up on our birthday ride for the fun and ride but still didnt want to be members so what do we do?
I will sort a membership number out Hatto in the next month or so
Our sponsors are fantastic, I deal with the all as OBT and they are enthusiastic very helpful if they are not as I just described them I would like to know because that is why they have been selected. We dont have a Honda or Yamaha dealer (both which I own) because we haven’t found a dealer we would or have had recommended. Basically I am saying on the whole our sponsors are here because of their support and service not just because they threw dollars at us.

June 2, 2010 at 2:39 am #180779Hey TB how do you go about getting the sponsors on board? There is a couple of shops in Liverpool that might be interested MCA the motorcycle accessories superstore is a great place to shop have you spoke to them? and next door to them is a small bike store that sells and service bikes.

Nothing stops them from giving to wooduck mates, but that is certainly not in the spirit of old bulls. Member need to remember that sponsorship is a two way street and without membership, that deal wouldn’t be there – (don’t bite off the hand that feeds you)I will sort a membership number out Hatto in the next month or so
might help a little, but prob only if sponsors could cross reference/database

Members need to remember that we benefit from them as much as they us.

June 2, 2010 at 5:04 am #180790I am probably talking to the iniatiated here, TB do you have a business plan for such?
just making sure as you don’t want to annoy existing sponsers by attracting too many of their main competitors….yet.
Nothing wrong with a various dealers from different areas, but atm the industry is undergoing some forced rationalisation (shop closures en-masse up here) so the ones that hare here for the long haul are the best.

No Bruce we welcome sponsors / supporters from all over actually our sponsors are located from Tasmania to Telegraph Point already
We wont support a shop or product just for money, its something Chris and I discussed early in the piece. Thats why we dont have a Honda or Yamaha dealer.I will discuss it with you over an ale at Wauchope
