Mine disconnects sometimes if I take my phone to far away from my back pack but it still continues to track. Actually before I could charge on the move I used to sync it up start the tracking and power down my iPhone for the day. When I got to the end of the day I would turn the phone back on resync it and send my message
You don’t need phone range or anything like that.
Sorry I missed your questions Linz  very rude. I will pm you my mobile as I have using one of these connects before they before the app available in Aus. Bloody apple had the app in the USA but wouldn’t release it here because the connect wasn’t on sale at that stage in Aus. I had troubles early on because the unit kept turning of but I took it of the bar mount and it never did it again. I see Eags mentioned batteries, with lithium batteries mine has sat flashing for 3 weeks not tracking because it was in the house but on stand by. Most long trips I track the whole trip and replace the batteries every 10days. I have tried different lithium battery brands and found only the Sliver and blue Eveready ones last
