DRZ400E standard gearing was 14/47, now running 13/47 WOW what a difference , bike is snappier out of tight turns and i am up a gear on up and down hills and the bike just feels better and easier to ride in the bush, I personally do not feel the efect on top speed as i am very rarely flat in 5th in the bush for that long.
yes I know changing front may assist in wearing out guides, chains etc,
    front 13 tooth = $19.90
    rear 51 tooth = $75.00:S

Pussbags all of you 14 47 is fine for Betty, very Fast, the way it should be, hills and tight stuff, thats what a clutch is for, wussbags

I rode mine through the bush just fine. It’s personal preference that is making me want to change back. I think Murph is the same :)

I was running 14/52 and have just switched to running 14/50. I stalled a few times in the tight single track as I clutch it up in 2nd a lot. It’s much nicer for more open stuff though.

Despite everything I plan to go back to 14/52 as I preferred that gearing overall. I’ll just rev the bike harder when I want to go faster :P

after doing some riding around orange latly i agree 14/52 would be better in the hills but there is no hills at dubbo so will stick with 14/50 but i do seem to use 1st gear to much
