Call from wife 8.00 little dog died.
next call, fire on medium strip, extinguished call back to morning fire flare up.
Then called to cresent head multiple houses in extreme danger.
Called Kram, was good at that stage, plumbing pipes melted on one house.
Think we saved them all, not sure.Heart goes out to any one involved in any of the fires today.
If you see a firey comeing please move off the road.
And help out the bush fire brigades when ever you can, these guys do it for free.Beautiful storm rolling over here now, hope every one else is getting the rain.
toesA big thanks to Toes and the RFS crews.
A fire broke out only a few Klms south of us and went like a rocket. The police blocked our road and our kids weren’t allowed to leave the school. We were so lucky it was a strong North East wind blowing the flames away from us. The RFS crew managed to save all homes but it was very close for several. Too close.
I feel for all those still in danger and those that have lost their homes.

October 23, 2013 at 5:11 am #250774Hey TB
Was thinking about you and all my other mates over there in east blaxland….as I was sitting on the good side of the highway on my side of blaxland
. Was a bit off putting getting all those ‘get out or stay put’ messages on my phone on thursday.
My biggest concearn if the wind changed how do I fit the Buell, the transalp, the husky AND the peewee on my little trailer…let the other crap burn but don’t take my motorbikes lol.I drove to Rydal on sunday and it looked bad in lithgow but when I was over there today it looked fine.
If you’re needing a distraction TB I still need your input on the transalp  clear skies on this side of the highway.

October 23, 2013 at 11:55 pm #250775I trust things are a tad easier going today ???
Things got a bit wild up on a couple of spots in Newy yesterday , the smoke was thick all night
Kind of glad I moved from Minmi 3 yrs ago, as it was one of the suburbs under threat. I went tru that same threat in `94 and was on the roof of the local shop and houses close by for hours in that one,,,It makes you realise how vulnerable we really are when you are faced with that situation :S
October 24, 2013 at 12:02 am #250974Much easier thanks Eags. Yesterday could have gone either way as it was the wind suited us here. Was listening to it all unfold in Minmi and Dudley yesterday sounds like luck played a part there as well.
Thanks to Dejay and Crash for coming up here yesterday, James for coming and collecting the kids bikes etc. and thanks to Trailraider, Strucky and Bollocks .
Again to everyone that took time out to ring, PM and text it was awesome knowing that people gave us a thought and what real friends we haveTB
October 24, 2013 at 4:49 am #250776Damn conditions are again causing problems in many areas according to the latest update.
Bilpin – Mount Wilson area again under threat,
Minmi fire again gaining momentum,
A large fire burning uncontained and inaccessable near the Putty Rd…And R.I.P the Helo Pilot that tragically lost his life west of Ulladulla this morning
Not looking good at this stage for any riding again this weekend  :S

Weather is ok on the weekend at this stage now worse or better than any normal weekend. I for one need after this stressful fire related week a ride. I have some ideas given that the fire has jumped the Bells Line and is headed towards Colo. Colo heights is already got fire dramas and next eastern location from there in sorts is St Albans a relocation and format could be in order see the thread related to the ride.
Civil Drones as put this out

I have been watching that Gateshead – Dudley smoke from my front verandah the past hour actually. It is pushing back across with the wind change we had a few hrs ago
I big chopper headed right over my house most likely from the Minmi fire to Gateshead checking out the situation.
October 24, 2013 at 9:00 am #250777I hope all you guys are OK up in the Hunter and Blue Mountains. Must have been majorly scary for a while (though you sounded pretty relaxed when I spoke to you yesterday TB).
Conditions easing a bit today but still no RAIN.
If we are not riding this week end due to the fires I’ve got the week end off any way, so if any one needs a hand ferrying stuff about I’ve got a couple of utes available (though I can only drive one at a time!)
Give me a shout.

Hopefuly will see you Sat arvo somewhereIts quite cool up in Newy at the moment, but the Southerly is ripping trees, twigs, leaves & crap everywhere again,,,,
So no doubt the smoke is with it from the fires still burning :whistle:No wonder the fire fighters are still on edge a bit despite the cooler change!!!
