July 29, 2009 at 5:46 am #145552Spoke to the guys at Teknik today, they are going to customise the valves that are in the the standard fork to suit the new springs. Re valve and shim is $269.00
New springs to suit riders weight $189.00 Total cost $458.00 3 day turn around.
He said i will not believe the difference this work will make to the bike!! I will let you know how it goes.July 29, 2009 at 5:58 am #145694I had my DRZ done by Jay Foreman Racing in Newcastle. Turned it into a totally different bike. Fantastic, and all I did was send the forks and rear shock to Jay in the post with a letter telling him what I wanted out of it, what I weighed and where and how I rode. Cost me $650 for front and rear including postage.
Do it Boony, do it do it do it do it do it!
July 29, 2009 at 6:02 am #145695I think we are only looking at a respring and just playing around with the shimms or what eva they are that are already in there..
July 29, 2009 at 6:10 am #145697All sound advice so far Mr D Boone, everybike i get gets suspesnion sorted by experts, it is #1 on the new bike to do list.
get a few opinions, cause some are better at certain bikes than others.
If I had a KTM ( :S ) ever again (NOT PDS not on yer nelly) it would go to a certain well known man in sydney, but conventional forks in a bannana boat probably not.
maybe one of your little blue tablets would help in this area Boony?
BCJuly 29, 2009 at 6:14 am #145698yeh thanks bluey,I actually ride regularly with the gentleman that is doing mine so he knows my style plus he is a local and apparently not bad at his job,,snicker, snicker gday steve.
July 29, 2009 at 7:53 am #145699Yeah Boony as TB said Teknic did the forks on my DRZ. Put in .48 springs up for the standard .44’s and some trick aftermarket valves. Definatly go for the revalve, heavy springs alone will make the forks fell harsh. Believe it or not although mine have heavier springs they feel softer over small bumps but when you hit larger rocks and roots hard or jump they very rarley bottom or if they do bottom out you can barely feel it.
July 29, 2009 at 8:25 am #145715Spoke with Chad from Chad’s off road down in melbourne today. He said that to have the DRZ done over front and back with a rear shock rebuild would be $550. with a one day turn around. Only down side is he is in Perth for the safari and wont be back until the 14th or 15th

I had mine done and there is no comparrison to the original springs. I weigh in at a shade under 130kg along with a long range tank and now have confidence in leaning and turning the bike. If the person doing the work know what they are on about they should be able to set it up to your style/liking.Where did you get yours done Jak? I will need to gaet my Wr done when i pick it up.

I wish the bike was included in that weight.
